Internet dating advice wanted/needed

I am interested in knowing how you read that in my blurb.
I used to love those bad boys when I was younger....now I just look at them and don't touch:cool:

"love being a passenger on a Harley!"
It is a neon sign saying I want a "bad boy'
It must have been a Freudian slip.

I think my interpertation captured you.
"I think the lady dothe protest too much" WS

Here's mine:

Sensitive artist looking to connect over coffee. Love walking, hiking (3 miles max), cannot ride a bike but love being a passenger on a Harley! Looking for a self sufficient man who has a goal in life, some culinery prowess, likes to be silly and can be serious when called for.

I dont really know what to think about this but Ill take a stab at it ;)

Artist..I think someone emotional. Walking, hiking part ..sounds good. The Harley thing I dont know what to make about that. Self sufficient ok you dont want a leech. Culinery prowess ....ok either you read into this one or you take it for what is worth. The silly and serious part you want someone who will laugh but when it comes down to business take care of it.

Oh the whole goal in life thing. Im lost on that one since I really dont have any but kick back and enjoy it. So I guess that would be a goal..:D

Thats what I got out of it. At first glance.

everyone project's their personal experiences into these things - so Citrine - you saying you want someone with A goal tells me you've dated guys without Any!

hehe

Dex, your interpretation tells me you'll read into everything and are wary of too much!

Bright eyed....very true....I have dated a lot of goal challenged men in the past!
Dex.....one does not have to be a bad boy to have a harley....he could just appreciate a fine piece of machinery!
Notmuchlonger...that is a worthy goal to have!

Tells me hes lived life and knows a thing or two :)

... harley....he could just appreciate a fine piece of machinery!...

First, there’s no such thing as a bad motorcycle, but Harley does NOT equal fine machinery. It’s more likely that he is a victim of sophisticated marketing and the sheep herd mentality. That’s certainly not universally true, there are many exceptions, but in the context of a personal ad you will likely attract someone who thinks it’s cool to dress like a gay pirate.

I think we need to talk; yes talk - about humor -a comic, absurd, or incongruous quality causing amusement: the humor of a situation.

is that internet communication for a phone date? :cell: :D

:)

Well, if he actually looks like Johnny Depp, it wouldn't be so bad, eh, citrine?

I'm thinking more like Nicholas Cage.......:)

Hey Citrine, I have the beau for you. John Turturro in his role as Jesus in The Big Lebowski.

I see a great future for the two of you. :)

Ha

....I have dated a lot of goal challenged men in the past!

I'm curious. i have had several friends (both male and female) tell me that many women consider a man not having a job or goals to be a deal breaker when deciding who to date.

How would you deal with this bias (if it's really true) if you're ER'd? Just saying "I'm not working now" or "I'm just taking life as it comes" could get you dinged immediately, but adding that you can afford to be jobless/goal-less implies that you're loaded, which can bring its own set of problems.

Citrine

My buddy thinks I look just like Nick Cage....No Joke!!

He was always like "Jimmy if you slicked your hair back you would look just like him!!"

Anyway nice thread.

Here is some tips to meet people. First off I don't smoke drink or do drugs of any kind I'm not a recovering addict they just have never been a part of my life. With that said you can understand why I don't like bars. But I have to say that you can meet people in bars easily and if you are single and don't mind breathing in cigarette smoke it might be a much better place to go than online. I had trouble with the fights in bars. I hated fights when i was in HS and hate them 50 times worse now. Having to get up and leave my seat because some guy grabbed another by the throat is not the places I want to spend my free time. Along with meeting girls that scare me.

But I always seemed to have more than enough girls talk to me at bars. Most were not what I was interested in though. I'm pretty approachable and can talk so that helps and this is nothing special that anyone can't do.

If you just want to meet people and don't mind the occasional knife fight or meeting women that want to know where they can score some crack or have some dude staring holes in you because he doesn't like it that you were talking to a certain girl...then go to the bar!!

For girls posting thier profile here are some tips.

I look at a lot of profiles and some of the stuff I see that can be a disaster are this.

Only posting one photo...it makes the profile look phony...post at least 4

Post a shot of your whole body if I see a few pictures of just a ladies head I wonder what she is hiding.

Don't post 7 pictures of your cat. I see this all the time I don't think anyone wants to date your cat!

If you are bitter about guys just don't date. Some of these profiles are like a feminist rant on how much they would like to hurt guys. If you hate guys get more cats...forget dating.

Some of the things I look for is if a girl looks like she takes care of herself. I don't mean that she wears $500 shoes but if she is in shape. And a big attention getter is if a girl says she is very loving and wants a very physical and affectionate relationship. I would be forgiving of a lot of things with that quality.

As far as women talking about outdoor activities go I think some women put that on there to make guys think they exercise. Where I live not many women exercise. I see profiles where a girl brags about brushing her teeth!! No kidding! I thought that was a given. I brush and my teeth every day...I thought every one did!

I know a girl that when she is single she exercises and then when she gets a boyfriend she stops and gains a lot of weight.

Oldbabe

Reading the part where you were saying about a guy not being able to spell I think if you are being way way to picky with that way of thinking.

Have a handful of criteria. For instance for me if she is attractive to me (I don't care what anyone else thinks of her). And is a loving nice person she has a good shot just on those two things. A few others that I would want are clean living or close to it and not a total materialistic nut. But I know that there will always be differences just make sure it's not the big ones. But if you get a nice person that you find attractive that should be great start and it's tough to find just those two things a lot of times.

BTW if it were not for the spell check on here I would have about 4 words spelled correctly on this entire post...two of those are my name!

Just say that frequent visits to your parole officer have made it hard for you to hold a job.

She will understand, so long as you are tall.

Not everyone is 100% genetically male or female.

Not everyone is 100% physically male or female.

Not everyone is 100% heterosexual or homosexual.

Not everyone is 100% male or female in communication methods or goals or other secondary/tertiary gender traits.

And none of the above are necessarily linked with each other.

I think one of the great things about the WWW is that people can realize that they are not alone: there are heterosexual males who do not care about professional sports teams, there are homosexual males who are lousy cooks, there are heterosexual women who do not want to have children, there are women who do not care for fashion or jewelry or shoes, there are men whose preference in cars is a high MPG econobox...

Rant over:rant:.

Too much like work.:p

Khan, as TickTock would say, I am intrigued by your ideas and wish to subscribe to your newsletter! :) I can give a big Amen! to that--remember trying to read that stupid Men are From Mars book--sweeping generalities about how women "feel" that were totally off base in my case. Yuck!

Once ya'll are done tormenting poor Citrine, I have to say it is all pretty funny and once again makes me glad that DH and I met early in life. I would never have survived this sort of scrutiny.

Jim, when you describe the bar, I'm thinking maybe you should find a new place to hang out--I haven't seen a bar fight in many years. Of course I'm usually there to hear live music!

Ok, thanks for the good advice (and for the laughter at the BS) but I am burnt out here. I'm officially bowing out of this thread. But you all carry on! Put this one in the Guinness Book of long threads!

I must say, there are some men with a great sense of humor on this board!

Well, in my addiction, I didn't really date the best guys in the world with a whole lot going on for them. I was more concerned about partying than anything else.
If a guy said that he was not working now, or taking life as it comes is fine......I just don't want to date anyone whose goal is to reach last call at the bar every night.

I would much rather meet men in person....I am an intuitive person and my vibes are usually right on....much harder to scutinize that online.

Sure you would have, Sugah- just show them a pic with the pole!

(For those who are new, Sarah, in addition to being a highly trained financial analyst and a true Southern Belle is also a pole dancer in her spare time.)

Knowing Sarah's other hobby I was shocked to discover that she's only worn heels twice. What the heck is the point of pole dancing and not wearing high heels. :)

Hey now, I am primarily a hula hooper, Ha--don't oversell my *ahem* other talents! :) Especially financial analysis! ;)

I am totally ridiculous trying to pole dance, but I have had lessons (barefoot).
I hope to convince a friend to go back for more pole lessons this summer and then get me some of them there stripper heels! I should go from ridiculous to dangerous then! I did seem to do a bit better at the lap dancing, so I might just go with that....

The most important trait in a person--the ability to laugh at yourself.

True, Sarah, a very attractive trait. Very important in old men- totally redundant in young women like yourself. :)

Entertaining "gentlemen" doesn't require talent; you only have to be nekkid... >:D

I agree with Sarah in SC, I am so glad that DH and I met early in life. I would never make it in the dating world. I have found this thread very funny in places.

I would fail too. Probably because I didn't realize anyone was being tormented :D

I believe that Sarah was kidding by using that word. We were teasing Citrine lovingly, a sign of liking and respect.
