    Re-financing Now

Not yet. Thought maybe someone brighter than I (many) may know an immediate reason to jump or not given the bare info I provided. Obviously I need to get some numbers together and will be as soon as my kids give me 30 seconds alone.

    Re-financing Now

Anybody jumping on the re-fi wagon now while rates are still low? I signed into a 5/5 ARM 2 years ago (probably bad idea) at 5.75% and am wonderinfif I should jump to a 30 year fixed which today is possible at around 5.35%.

    Alec Baldwin --- Ranting

Interestingly, his career has recently made a strong comeback and Kim Bassinger would be forgotten without this kind of press. Hmmmmmm....

How much do you put away?

Wife and I gross 135K. We're both 39 and have 4 yr old twins. Grandma pays for daycare and intends to pay all of college! (I would never tell another parent that without the anonymity of this forum because they'd kill me). We have about 190k in 401k and IRA's, 65k in managed stock fund and 250k...

grew up in Chelsea just outside Boston. my all-time favorite is..."whadda u retahhhdidd?" There was a handwritten sign in a local bar that advertised "Beer and a beatin' $3"

    Patio Doors................

I also bought an Anderson Slider at Home Depot for about $1100. It had the Sandtone powder coated exterior with unfinished wood on the interior. I installed myself with no problems. I have no background in carpentry but can be considered fairly handy. I read the directions a few times and...

    Need to justify your spending?

My MIL recently built her dreamhouse for about 2 million. I was there when the first comment came in. Someone said to her "It must be nice to be rich." and she unapologetically replied "Why yes, it is!".

Yes, I'm interested to see how I handle it as well.

How strong is the lure of family?

Yes, still married to a great woman. We have wonderful 4 year old twins (boy/girl...it's a wrap) and I'd like them to grow up around aunts uncles and cousins since I didn't and still feel the void. BUT...It's quite possible that the day they move off to college (hopefully) we move off to enjoy...

How strong is the lure of family?

My wife stayed close to home when we married (1999). I got a peach of a job offer in 2000 in Hawaii and decided to stay in the N-East BECAUSE of ties to extended family. In the words of my favorite actor, Bugs Bunny, "WHAT A MAROON!"

    Anyone expecting an inheritance?

Yeah, I said I was struggling but I'm winning the battle. Although I can from time to time go off daydreaming about the possibilities, I save all I can. In fact I just shifted a 4% raise to my 401k, maxing out the annual deduction allowed. Wasn't I supposed to buy a bigger TV or something? I'd...

How strong is the lure of family?

Problem...We were here first and we love it. I don't like the idea of them pushing us out. Also, my MIL (no problems with her) just moved to the next town and she and my wife are very close. But time will tell... Oh yeah, what's really crazy is that they have this fantasy of a big happy family...

How strong is the lure of family?

My brother-in-law and his wife followed my wife and I to the same town. At first the 4 of us were great buddies. We are close in age and were fresh newlyweds. Lots of fun and socializing. But after a few years and some kids my wife and I both realized they are complete whack-jobs (narcissistic...
