    GPS

After being hopelessly lost in Spain a few years ago, I bought a TomTom GPS loaded with European and North American maps. We have used it in Europe and throughout North America. The odd time it seems to provide directions that don't make sense, but, it has prevented a lot of arguments.

    Boats- A love affair

Unlike many of you, I got into boating later in life -- just 4 years ago. We got a 22 ft. pontoon boat with a 90 hp Mercury. One of the best purchases we have ever made (notice I didn't say investment!). We, and our friends and family, have had a lot of pleasure cruising the inland lakes and...

    Class of 2012

I'm now in the class! Although I expected to retire in 2013 or 2014, over the summer I decided to retire a little early. So, as of Sept 1, I joined the class of 2012. It feels so good! Travelling while we can. Just returned from South Africa and planning to escape the Canadian cold this...

any retired or semi-retired profs here?

After retiring this summer I thought about going back and teaching part-time. The thought passed quickly when I realized if I wanted to keep teaching I would not have retired. Funny -- today I was thinking about preparing my course outlines for the courses I will teach this fall. 18 months in Peru sounds a lot better! Congrats and good luck with the surgery.

    Any Gold Bugs Out There?

At my age six years doesn't qualify as long term.;D Actually, for what it's worth, I recently got out of gold. I bought IGT on the TSX at $70 and sold at $98 when gold broke through $1,000 an ounce. I figured that was the psychological barrier. I do think there is room for it to move up...

    Aerobics prolongs your ER lifespan

" ...the 50-plus set benefited from a supportive environment of their peers when exercising -- and that without one, they'd rather work out alone than with bunch of Spandex-clad 20-somethings. " I'd like to take a close look at that study!

    Any Gold Bugs Out There?

Over the long term it may just keep up with inflation.

Another 5 years (or so) to go

Just found this site. At 59 years of age, and with my wife and I both having late-in-life career changes, it looks like we will have to work to 65 to play catch-up financially. Luckily, we will both have pensions, but since we want to escape the cold winter weather for at least a month, we are...
