    45 days into retirement!

Thank you SeattleRocks! I like the strategy. I am a little confused over the multiple HSA reference. Assume it's what I have as well - Health Savings Account. You made mention of getting on an HSA plan. I assume you mean ACA plan?? I like the idea to continue to fund the HSA account early in...

    45 days into retirement!

Thanks Aerides..I checked in with an insurance broker and he told me that we can still carry dental and vision on Cobra while moving the medical to ACA for 2022. If we move to ACA Dental there's a 90 day waiting period and he told me that if you run out COBRA on the dental and vision they...

    45 days into retirement!

So, if I’m following you correctly , I can sign up for BCBS TX Bronze plan under our states ACA plan for benefit year starting Jan 1 2022 b/c I should only see 25k gross combined income for both me and spouse. I would than be eligible for a fully subsidized plan for my wife plus one dependent. I...

    45 days into retirement!

Expenses run 12-15k per month including current COBRA payments. 2021 W-2 income will exceed 500k. Assume earliest I can shop for an ACA subsidized plan would be for 2023 but not really sure about the look back period.

    45 days into retirement!

I've been lurking on here for years and have been enlightened by the thoughtful conversations and introductions from the group. Little about me: 57 yo married guy worked for 33 years in the software business in sales and sales leadership. Living the dream in Austin TX. Took a retirement package...

36 Months to Launch or maybe sooner?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. We've decided to push out the car purchase and when the time comes buy when the wheels are falling off our current vehicles we will go with used cars. The upgrade to our current home is in discussion. We are meeting with some real estate friends to get advice on...

36 Months to Launch or maybe sooner?

Thanks Wyoming. Great insights. I know for a fact that once I have time on my side I will have fun reducing spend in commodity areas like utilities, food shopping, clothing, services etc. Right now we do pay too much in areas that take time to negotiate. I agree on the car front. Should of said...

36 Months to Launch or maybe sooner?

I've added 2k per month for HC in that 150k annual retirement budget. It's not 250k per year. It's actually 120k per year. Those are RSU's that have a vesting schedule that expire in 2022.Good point on the cars. Of all the parts of the plan that piece has the most flexibility to it. As far as...

36 Months to Launch or maybe sooner?

Hello Group! I've been lurking out here for a few years and the finish line is in sight. I've been running FireCalc lately and coming in around 97.8 to 100% consistently across several models. I've got concrete plans in place on what I need to do in order to punch out and this is where I'd...

I've come a long way and have my sights set on FIRE

Fireflower...Inspiring story but not sure I'm tracking. You say you need to go F/T in order to get cheaper health ins but your employer is matching 3%. Not sure I'm following on the employer piece here. Are they offering p/t employees 401-k with an employer match? If so, that's highly unusual...

Quit the world at 34 and now "broken" and refuse to go back

Thanks brydanger for the story. Your story is a dream and very idealistic and I would say bordering on dangerous and irresponsible. But of course there are so many caveats here I need to be careful for my own perspective. You make the assumptions that a "life well lived" should be one without...

3 Years to go and questioning the 3.5% WR

Hello HNL Bill - Plan would have me and DW taking SS at full rate at 66.2 years old. We would have a couple of side gigs during that bridge time... Expecting no less than 20k per year.
