DH and I attempted ER in 2007, after consistently working and saving for our entire adult lives, including business ownership. It didn't work out like we'd planned...

Returned to the grind of a FT worklife in 2009 due in part to the resession, our own poor planning, and also an underlying fear of using up capital that we could never replace. Combined with a lack of desire and understanding to actively manage our own financial future, and we had failure.

We ER’d again (for good!) in 2014 at 55 and 61 with a new plan, and have had a more satisfactory outcome this time (with a few unexpected bumps in the road along the way).
Small grandchild diagnosed with leukemia for which our emotional world was turned upside down and also required financial assistance to our son to help keep things minimally afloat during her treatments.
Very little focus to travel, enjoy our ER during 2014-2017 due to this.

But we’re back, have begun our ER life in earnest once more, and are excited to rejoin the forums!

Two grown kids, four grandkids (one in remission!) and one sweet rescue dog.

Motorcycle riding, travel, organic gardening, crafts, cooking from scratch.
