In my reply to this thread I just want to say that I am not judging anyone, especially in these difficult (housing) times.
This board has been very helpful to many as well as being very friendly. Something that most of us here don't take lightly here.

I agree with visiting your small local banks and cu. Have all your paper work in order, tax returns, copies of assets? Mutual funds, stocks,bonds, etc.

This is very close to how DW/ I have set as a target, although we are looking at a few more years until ER than you. So I look at AA more than buckets @ this point.
Call it "old fashioned" if you like. Like many others here, we are happy to be with this group.(25%) By paying off cc balances each month, and saving to pay cash for cars etc. we have been able to save thousands in interest charges alone.

I/DW also have held VG health for over 15 years. We have held this fund for many of the same reasons as the other posters. Foreign Co. etc. I also like the idea of investing in research/health related issues.
