    Fidelity calls

Folks, Fidelity advisors are all on salary, they don't benefit from you signing up for their managed programs. You can ask them this directly, they expect the question and won't be offended. Just ask. My advisor has been great, early on he asked my if I was a DIY or would like more help, told...

    Fidelity calls

I had this happen to me, contacted my advisor, and he fixed it. What we finally figured out was I made a change to add my wife to ownership of one account and an issue came up, and the department at Fidelity that fixed it caused it to no longer show my advisor. Was an easy fix though.

A Year Into Early Retirement; Still More Questions than Solutions

I have been working on similar issues, cleaning up my investments and getting organized with a clear strategy of how to handle things. On a recommendation from a friend, I spoke to an advisor from Fidelity (in the local office). I have had an account with them for a long time, but also with...

    Force Severance / Struggling

Happy, thank you for that and I hope you are right! I have been enjoying the time, and days are going too fast. I am torn still. As others said, smarting still a bit over the way things happened after all those years, but also the logical side of me knows it was a good thing for me. I have...

    Thought: TIPS & Withdrawal Rate

Not sure what you mean by no flexibility if expenses change... You can always sell the TIPs on secondary market, or just pocket the extra income if spending drops. Much more flexible than an annuity. Further, like Yogi once said, "it is difficult to make predictions, especially about the...

    Thought: TIPS & Withdrawal Rate

With TIPS Real Rates reaching 2.3%, it is getting in range where the real rate is getting close to the withdrawal rate that many have. In 2000, TIPS real rates were around 4%, right at the Trinity Withdrawal Rate. With a 4% real rate, one would have your money growing at the rate of inflation...

    Force Severance / Struggling

Folks, I was force separated this month, will have a severance for most of a year. I am telling myself I don't have to work again, I hated it and spouse has been telling me to quit for quite some time. I may want to work again, but right now I feel relief and frustration and fear and pissed...

Should I keep or pay-off, part of or all of, new mortgage?

I would suggest your tax situation is a big consideration. With a $500k loan at 6% interest, thats $30k per year in expense, lets say you then invest the $500k at 6%, so its a wash, but the $30k income is taxable. The $30k in interest could push you over the $24k standard deduction, depending...

47, Married with 3 kids, Desire to RE, but not sure

Hello! My first post here, but I have been lurking and reading other posts for a year or so. I work in a high stress industrial facility. The industry goes through periods of decent profitability, then slowdown and layoff. I go home each night hoping not to get a phone call that something...
