    I need some ideas

I bear good tidings....After a half dozen faxes, several phone calls and threats of lawsuits (1 copy of the state stautes), the guy got even and sent my wife my check..... I wonder if that's legal ??? , now management has my money and I have to wait til the next annual board meeting to...

    I need some ideas

Thanks guys for the great responses. I feel like I'm not going to take too bad of a beating after reading your replys. However I was a salaried employee, this was prior to me having read or signed anything if that counts any. I'm going to go ahead and take this to the DOL, and hopefully they...

    Yard sale methodology and etiquette

By the way I'm not confused about Dryer Sheets, you can re-use them as dust rags, check the oil, fire starters, clean your monitor, blow your nose, air freshners, emergency note pads, when your stranded on the toilet, and you can sell them at yard sales. ;)

    Yard sale methodology and etiquette

I don't know about the etiquette, but last year Management decided to have a big yard sale and I proposed at the board meeting prior to the sale, that Labor be allowed to handle the advertisment. I rolled out my John Deere riding mower, and a DeWalt Sliding compound with saw stand(All over...

Education level & occupation of ER

Hmmm... this is my first post on this forum so I hope it goes well, as I have weird sense of humor, I'm honestly a high school drop out :-[, punched the button half way through my senior year, I don't know if thats technically correct though as I was an honor roll student and got my diploma...

    The futility of planning

The original post on this topic (why plan when there are so many variables and assumptions involved?) reminded me of a fellow P&G engineer long ago when I once had to work. While receiving training on the importance of project scheduling, this guy questioned the need to schedule at all due to...

    College / financial aid

The `special circumstances' route worked for me as well, when we applied for financial aid for our son the year after I took my early retirement settlement (which doubled my salary the year we were applying for aid). Explaining in an attached letter that my salary was artificially doubled for...

    Retire, then kick the bucket?

Boy, was that a disappointing story, John. I was SOOOOOO hoping you were going to integrate Buffet's admonition regarding sex with your fishing story!

I would like to see more people posting

I finally saw About Schmidt recently and loved it. I found it hilarious and not depressing in the least (sure it was a little sappy, but it was JUST a movie!) But, then again, I am a true ER (part time at 44 and full time at 49) so I had absolutely ZERO empathy for the character Nicholson...

Scott Burns doesn't want us to retire!

I can't help but comment on yesterday's mention of lottery winners here. I too am always amazed when those huge jackpot winners claim they have no intention of quitting their (mostly rather mundane, let's face it) jobs. But the sad reality is that every one of those people have already shown -...

Lot's of folks will be retiring early..........

Re: Lot's of folks will be retiring early......... WOW!!!! Talk about different strokes for.....well, you know. I would NEVER want to go back to even the automobiles of 15 years ago, much less a life style 100 years ago!
