Nice work Steve! I’m not sure if this was covered already, but you may want to set up an emergency fund (3-6 months expenses) to avoid tapping into your investments if something unexpected happens.
Quick update, due to market gains and a steady savings rate DW and I just surpassed the 500k threshold in cash/assets! Thank you all for the great advise and motivational comments, I’ve gained so much since I’ve joined!
My wife and I work & live in the Bay Area and we have a similar housing dilemma. We both work FT and our combined income is 300k+. Pay 3k for a one bedroom apt and get killed with income tax or buy a 1mm+ home. We can't decide if its better to buy or rent. It feels like a bit of a bubble...
DW and I just hit 400k. 9 months ago our net worth was 300k, so with a couple of salary increases and the market gains we've been able to average a save rate of 11k per month over that time period. Hopefully we can keep this pace up!
Just surpassed 200k today! DW and I had a late start (me-31, DW-30) but we've come a long way since we first got married 4 1/2 years ago being about 60k in debt.
