Where to take money for new car

The easiest way to do it is to take it out of a Roth holding as proceeds from them are not counted toward the ACA income.

    Horrendous customer service at Vanguard

I had the same issue with T. Rowe Price when my father passed away. Extremely frustrating for something that should be simple.

Powell: Rates Will Rise Until Job Is Done

At least they are trying to do something unlike our government who is spending like a drunken sailor. Too much money chasing too few goods. It's not that hard to understand.

    *NO* Individual Stocks

My holdings outside of cash and some bonds are all in mutual funds. I just find it easier to diversify that way. You may not make as much as with stock ownership but it does help you not to hurt as much when the market goes down. In the end, it's what a person feels comfortable with.

How are you going to spend (or not) your stimulus check?

It's based on your 2019 AGI.

Correct execution of a 72t plan?

Your calculations seem correct based on Bankrate's calculator. I'm in year 3 of 5 of my 72t and the only thing I would caution is to make sure you file IRS form 5329 every year with your taxes. I also attach a copy of the calculation sheet for the SEPP.

We pay $140/yr for a 1 million dollar umbrella policy.

Poll:What's your 2020 effective tax rate?

0%. I have to keep our AGI low to get the ACA subsidy. This will change when I start receiving social security.

    How low can you go?

It all depends on where you live. We live out in the county where the property taxes are low ($800/yr on a $200K house). Our house and cars are paid off and we take 2 modest vacations a year. Our annual budget including health and dental care is between 30-35K. We live very comfortably.

    Info for heirs

I'm helping my mother go through this right now. My father passed last month and even though they had a living trust, we have to remove my father's name and SS# from all the accounts. Luckily for us, he left an "in case I die" checklist with account #''s, phone numbers, and addresses. You would...

    Happier in retirement?

I like not being on a schedule. I also don't miss those days that I woke up feeling like crap but still had to go to work. "Work" is a 4 letter curse word to me from now on.

    72T experience

One extra form for taxes for the SEPP payments. There are plenty of websites online to help you with the calculations. We attach a copy of the calculation sheet with our taxes.

    May be time to go

I went at 56 and have never looked back. Your finances seem solid and as long as your health insurance is good through your wife then it's time to pull the plug. It would be a good idea to make sure the wife is in agreement since that tends to throw a monkey wrench into the calculations. Good Luck.
