Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024

Dang, I havent been following the news I guess and didnt even know about it until I just seen this thread. Last time in 2017 here in MO I was in the total eclipse right in my back yard. This time I only need to drive about 30 miles south if I want to see the total eclipse again. No real traffic...

It is my understanding and memory that you will owe a pro rated amount on the interest withdrawn. No deferrals allowed on monies redeemed.

Im committed to keeping a core of IBonds. And having 1.3% fixed which is an over 15 year high is better than 0% fixed. If I am fortunate, IBonds will be my worst performing investing asset the next 10 years.

PB, as of now, the only reversing I have ever heard about is someone exceeding their purchase limit, not from a gift. It even happened to me. I had a friend get away with it with just a reprimand. But by the time I tried the trick too many had already done it, and they started clamping down.

There have been people who have done more with no problems. Here is a post from one poster on another forum where we discussed it…And she was moving around way more money than me! For those asking about redeeming more than $10K per year. I used our various family trust, professional LLCs...

How about impossible? They would have to track the money from my account, to my bank, and then regifted to my GF. I will take a serious bet on that never happening ha. (Also I wouldnt bet against me since I have currently won 13 sports bets in a row…what a bowl and playoff season I had!)...

Did anyone sell yet? I already took the excess limit proceeds, deposited in bank and regifted already.

PB, It wasnt the article but from the comments section….Here is one lifted for you…. M. Anderson says JANUARY 2, 2023 AT 2:55 PM As I have stated before, there is NO LIMIT to the dollar amount of gifts that you can deliver in any one year, even to the same person. For example, if you purchased a...

Sunset, I did it last week. Already got the dough within seconds and have already sold them into my bank account, to re-gift again.

If you did it, they should hit your account almost instantly. Mine did, but I did it during “business hours” so that may have factored in though.

I worked for me. I alluded to this last fall as others on an IBond article said they could and did. Another person I know did it. So I knew it would work, I just had to get around to doing it. If you look at their regs, it really only says if someone gifts you the limit you cannot purchase any...

I fully agree next cycle will yield pitifully. But I am committed to that 1.3% fixed being its the highest fixed in over 15 years. I want to keep a 50k base, so I gifted last fall, bought the full amount this year and then had GF gift me all my 0%s from the past. In turn I used proceeds to have...

I am not saying this applies to your situation. But for newbees be aware credit agency ratings are notoriously slow to change credit ratings. The market always hits it harder before the rating event change. If something seems too much like a “yield bp freebee”, one better research a bit more.

Yes, but it really was a given it would meet that level. The hope was more considering TIPS is a 100 bps higher.

Unfortunately it didnt. They just announced at 1.3% for a 5.27% total next cycle. Very disappointing with where the fixed is for TIPS. They announced the Series EE bonds at 2.7%. Criminals…They need to be thrown in jail for offering that pittance.
