Heads up: EFTPS now requires new login

Yes, I had an account go inactive. My account was inactive for 6+ years, so I don’t know what the cutoff was. They had no record of me, so had to start fresh.

Leaving Kaiser - Mail Order Pharmacy Options?

I’m really surprised that a Kaiser plan was not an option through your ACA exchange. Kaiser has a decent presence in WA.

    Dry Eye Syndrome - tips?

I was using this heat mask twice a day to help my dry eyes. It’s $9. Thermalon Dry Eye Compress (24342) https://a.co/d/eDL73iZ I also found relief by running the humidifier if the humidity got below 40% in the house. Mostly this is only a winter problem where I live. Recently I started using...

The Home Depot stores in our area don’t do tap or Apple Pay - what the heck! It’s 2023 for goodness sake!

Federal income tax payment via wire transfer

I think 5, 6 or 7 would work. My preference would be 6 or 7. 5 is my least favorite because it’s too generic. This is the IRS after all. Here’s an excerpt from the relief declaration that influenced my guidance: “The Oct. 16 deadline also applies to the estimated tax payment for the fourth...

Federal income tax payment via wire transfer

I believe your tax type would be 10406. 1040 because that is the form number for an individual tax return, with a 6 added to designate this is an estimated payment. If this is not an estimated payment, then select a different suffix code. The other codes listed are common business/corporate tax...

Fidelity HSA Transfers takes 20 days?

+1 for the 60 day rollover/indirect transfer. I was moving mine from HSA Administrators to Fidelity. Not only does this method save time, as the disbursement was just a few business days, but I also avoided the transfer fees and account closure fees. After I withdrew all of my cash (I had to...

    Name this tree

If you are using an iPhone, there’s a built in plant identifier in the Photos app. Just snap your photo, then hit the “i” icon for info and tap plant lookup. I just learned of this feature a few weeks ago. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT213088

    Does Anyone Proactively Replace Appliances/HVAC?

If it were me, those inconveniences are easily remedied without buying a whole new unit at $800+. New racks can probably be ordered online. As for the detergent dispenser, switch to the pod type detergent and just throw it in anywhere. If this concerns you, put it in the silverware caddy. Now...

    Does Anyone Proactively Replace Appliances/HVAC?

We’re getting a new water heater tomorrow. The old one is 14 years old, 2 years beyond the original warranty, and never flushed as they suggest. We plan to travel this summer, leaving our kid home to house sit. We don’t want our him to have to deal with this, should it fail while we’re away. My...

I Actually Enjoy Doing My Tax Returns…

I love doing our taxes, but my career was in corporate tax, so it’s in my blood. I have an excel model that I built, filling in all I can from December statements. The only number I don’t have nailed down in Dec. is the foreign income and their taxes paid. At the end of the day, I’m usually...

    Share your luck

Last spring DM (89) got a breast cancer diagnosis (not lucky for her, but we’ll get to the lucky part). A day later while thinking about DM I realized that I was 2 months late for my annual mammogram, so I quickly got an appointment for the same day. Well, unfortunately, it turned out that I too...
