NYCB-U,
Appears from last earnings NYCB is doing well. NYCB-U price has been on decline for some reason. The description on quantumonline is confusing to me, seems more than simple preferred, and that concerns me. the 8% div seems safe from suspension. $50 par, trading below 35. Anyone...
looking at this way, tax torpedo" doesn't seem that bad.
pulling 130k from IRA, married, no SS, tax bill is 13,121
pulling 80k from IRA, married, 50K SS, tax bill is 11,476
I wouldn't delay SS just to avoid torpedo,
Timely topic,
All my financial accounts have beneficiaries , I am just want the house to pass to 3 adult children as easy, and cheaply, as possible.
For some reason i don't think a will alone will do it.
In Florida, the Lady Bird Deed is an option. Also called an "Enhanced Transfer on death...
Yes I have,
I filled out forms for SS to start Feb 2022, but for unknown reasons SS started in January. That was bad because my earning for Jan were over the limit. Also in January I filled out form to withdraw application as my job wasn't ending as expected.
I waited patiently, got SS $ in...
I think un-realized gains are hurting my income
maybe not correct thread for this, but i respect posters here. Maybe this is obvious to experience traders.
my math says unrealized capital gains aren't working for me, so i should sell and buy something else.
assume non-tax account,
I buy 100...
WFC-Q is set for fixed dividend of almost 9%, worried it may get called.
WFC-R will get set for >10%, next year, maybe they will save cash to call that one.
How much notice do they give when being called?
I see aja8888 post a lot, so respectfully, I thought the very definition of cumulative shares was they have to be paid eventually, the company cannot pay regular share dividends until preferred have been paid. Every web site that describes preferred says that. NLY is big, 9 billion $...
NLY-F
cumulative, floating rate currently 9.8%, $24.77.
risks?
might get called, I break even, Div is suspended, will eventually get it.
Price may drop, eventually yield will drop when Libor rates fall.
Seems pretty safe to me,
PACWP - PACW is in the making some headlines, I'll try the preferred. Many bank preferred seem non-cumulative. So if earns are poor i guess they can suspend as long as they want. Last I saw FRC is suspending regular, but not preferred divs
need help researching HBANL
From the prospectus, which is only 1 day old, its 6.875% yield ( 25 par value),
at current price it yields 8%. I found link to prospectus on quantumonline.
seems too good to be true. Unless HBAN is at some risk.
Purchased AQNU, a callable preferred for Canadian utility, AQN. Issued at $50, but sank with the price of AQN, 13% yield. From what i read AQN may have some volatility yet, but for next 12 months I will take the div and watch closely. Anyone else have thoughts.
I just called the number on UNH website, and the agent clearly stated that when I get plan G, a discount is applied, and that discount decreases, so I will see 2 increases, one due to inflation/cost, the other due to discount going away, and it applies to Florida.
The agent said the discount...
My concern over excess charges revolves around the possibility of serious accident/disease that lands me in hospital and lengthy followup visits to specialists. So picking a doc without excess charges isn't possible in emergency situations, and with bills ( doctor and hospital) that could...
I'm somewhat familiar with preferred's.
Can someone outline to me the risk with AGNCP, $17.18. Seems to me it has upside to 25, yes that may take many years. In mean time i collect 8.8%.
Price could go lower, anything else?
