    March Madness

Was watching the Duke/JMU game and switching back and forth between that and the Clemson game. Stayed on the Clemson game as the Duke/JMU game was such as blow out. Happy we have 4 ACC teams in the Sweet Sixteen. UNC, NC State, Duke and Clemson. Our family has internal rivalry. UNC, NC...

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

My twin sister who lives an hour and a half away from me texted me last Sunday morning (2/11/24) she tested positive for Covid. She had not been boosted with the recent vaccine. I don't think she boosted in 2022/2023 either. Because of her husbands' health issues they have been extremely...

Mother's Long Term Care Insurance Company Giving Me the Run Around

Harlee, that is truly disheartening. One, to have paid in for the "peace of mind of Long Term Health. Two, to have had to fight for 6 months to get them to pay. Three, to have to stay on them so they continue to pay. Where is the "peace of mind"?

Advice on Making More $$ in a Trust Account

If her assets consist of the house and $86,000, I'd be inclined to leave that $86,000 where it is until the house sells, if for no other reason than to pay the monthly expenses, utilities, possibly property taxes and insurance, upkeep, etc. Those are technically Trust expenses at this point...

Part D Decision: Aetna vs Wellcare

I changed from an Anthem Drug plan going to $70/mth to Wellcare two years ago. No surprises but I am not expensive drugs. The only one I take regularly is a mild diuretic that manages my high blood pressure. With Wellcare it is zero cost. Liking the zero monthly cost this year (2024) for the...

GI Bill, Education Benefits to transfer to grandchildren, College funding questions

Thank you Bigdawg. Both my daughter and SIL mentioned something about disability. I don't know what SIL's rating is. They may have mentioned it in reference to his brother because they said all 4 of his brother's children will go to college free..meaning paid for. He is the one with the...

GI Bill, Education Benefits to transfer to grandchildren, College funding questions

Thank you ivinsfan. Haven't a clue when they extended this to offspring but am glad they did! We are very proud of him and of course that comes with a bit of worry as well at times. Like now with the turbulent times you mentioned.

GI Bill, Education Benefits to transfer to grandchildren, College funding questions

Thank you again av8er! They do currently receive TriCare medical. This is great info to know. I know he hasn't yet transferred the benefit to them as he really didn't seem to know even the highest level detail. He just knew he could transfer it (but I am a very detail oriented person! :laugh...

GI Bill, Education Benefits to transfer to grandchildren, College funding questions

Thank you CRLLS. In researching and looking at a couple of videos, it seems the GI bill is accepted at most all public and even some private colleges and as you said, thru out the nation. Private colleges have another benefit on top of and in addition to the GI bill called "Yellow Ribbon"...

GI Bill, Education Benefits to transfer to grandchildren, College funding questions

Thank you so much for replying av9er! It brought to mind another question. My son-in-law almost has 20 active duty years already (age 38). But I think he plans to stay in. His entire family is military. I read or thought I did, that the recipient of the transfer must be 18 years of age...
