DH signed up for Medicare Plan G today!

Glad to hear that life is OK in the land of Medicare! I'm up to bat soon ( 65 in Juy '24 ) ...was there a thread or 2 that were particularly good among the many Medicare discussions here? I made note of the thread below awhile back, and I'm curious if there are other discussions here that you...

Post your favorite 70s/80's one hit wonders here.

It could easily be argued that Mr. Mister was a 2-hit wonder band in the mid-80s. So this might be a rule breaker, but I've always enjoyed the vocals and movement in "Kyrie" Plus Richard Page is a killer singer who allegedly turned down the lead vocal jobs for Chicago and Toto. This clip is...

Post your favorite 70s/80's one hit wonders here.

Wasn't the 'It's a Gas" single only available as a tear-out thin vinyl page from an issue of Mad -- which then fit onto your 45 player after you popped out the little hole in the middle? That's the way I remember it anyway ...LOL

    Music videos

Wonderful version ..and I couldn't help but get distracted by Steve's unusual instrument. Thought it was a mandolin at first because of the sound ...but I noticed he was playing typical guitar chords G, C & D with his left hand ( not mandolin stuff ) and it's got 12 strings, not 8 like a...

    Music videos

That's mandolin, guitar and banjo. Late in the song, there's a brief time where 2 mandolins are playing -- it's during a solo break, where one mando is carrying on with a rhythm part while the second one takes a solo

Part-time Jobs in Retirement in the IT field

An attorney friend of mine works for a university -- last weekend he told me about students who have been caught paying $2K per class ( and up ) to have someone else pose as them and do all the required assignments, tests, etc. Sounded like a great opportunity to learn new things, and do...

    Mystery check from IRS

Glad you got your magic check! Now if only the IRS would send me the $3K or so I'm owed from my 2021 amended return that they received 7 months ago. I keep hoping it's still sitting in one of their to-do piles somewhere....

Costco Tire - Hard to do business with?

Call me crazy, but I've become a fan of buying tires on craigslist. Bought my last 2 sets that way ( 4 reg and 4 snows ) plus also bought some Honda OEM wheels that way too ...All hardly used, all at 1/2 ( or less ) of the best price for identical models at any web or storefront. Gonna do it...

Have you actually calculated how much you spend for coffee annually?

That sounds a lot like me. Coffee smells delicious but I've never had a cup. I get nervous around coffee machines because I have no idea what goes where or which bottons to push LOL!

LTC coverage, one real life example

Thanks for posting this. Most ( perhaps all? ) of us will happily pay home and auto premiums for decades -- and if there is never a claim/payout, we won't complain a bit. Yet somehow, the idea that "LTC ins without some guaranteed payoff/refund is a waste of money" is very popular. I get...
