Car Buying Services - Your Thoughts

I know I've only got 3 posts in 3 years, so my board credibility is lacking, but I can assure you it's not scammy at all. 4.5 starts on his amazon book - http://www.amazon.com/Buyers-Leasers-Negotiating-Bible-Edition/product-reviews/0375720677 Also, link to a discussion on boggleheads where...

Car Buying Services - Your Thoughts

I'm very surprised that Fighting Chance New Car Buying Guide - How to get the best deal when you buy or lease a new car. hasn't been mentioned yet. I've used them to buy both my cars (10 & 12 years ago respectively), and I've had friends that have used them recently. Perfect way to have peace...

Any tax advantage vehicles for paying for primary/secondary education?

Will be looking at b/w $5-10k/year/kid coming up paying for primary/secondary education. A quick google would lead me to believe that there aren't any good tax advantage vehicles to take advantage of in this situation (other than the ESA, which is being reduced from $2k to $500 on 12/31/12, let...

33-year-old father of two wants to learn...and then quit to work for himself!

Thanks for all the feedback re: savings vs. paying down mortgage. I understand that I'm in a great place with my mtg. rate. My biggest worry about taking extra cash and putting that in the market vs. paying down the mortgage is that I'll get caught in a down market when I actually need the...

Gotcha. Thoughts on putting all money towards mortgage vs. splitting up b/w mortgage and more liquid taxable accounts?

33-year-old father of two wants to learn...and then quit to work for himself!

Thanks...yeah, putting the $10k a year in 401k vs. something more liquid is something else I appreciate being challenged on. My dad has been in financial services/banking for all my life, so it's always kind of been ingrained in me to dollar cost average to make sure to catch the market at all...

Sorry, can see where that needed some clarification...it won't let me edit the OP right now...but you can see the detail in teh post directly above this one. Actual expenses are ~$69k. thanks for the feedback on 529...I think I feel the same way

Thanks for the response. Agree that I should be able to pay off in 2-3 years...note in my original post I said "very conservatively by March 2017" I'm intrigued by your "very high expenses" comment. I do track my expenses diligently, so I'll be glad to answer any specific questions, but I...
