New Weight Loss/Obesity Drugs Could Transform Economy

I have been on Wegovy 6 months, minimal side effects, have lost 52 lbs. I consider this drug medically necessary for me. I had hypertension (HAD) , Hashimotos, high cholesterol, pre diabetic, and am at moderate riskfor a heart attack or stroke based on my blood work from my Endocrinologist. Per...

Traditional or Roth 401k for my 27 year old?

DD gets a company match so I signed her up for their 401k ( less complicated then having Roth plus pre-tax $) she also fully funds her Roth at Fidelity. As a part time server after 2 years she has 5 k in her 401k, and about 26 k in her Roth. Not bad for a 23 yo full time student that lives at...

    Short layovers for connecting flights

PS you can’t land in the OC after about 10 pm this will cause a diversion to LAX and a bus ride back to OC. Talk about a pain.

    Short layovers for connecting flights

Late to the party but I live near SNA. Personally we fly in and out of LAX to avoid connections, layovers, and expensive flights. Depending on the time of day LAX is as little as an hour away from Orange County. If you’re renting a car it’s a no brainer.

    Big Fidelity bonus

Last week I was offered $3500 for $1 million. Plan on taking them up on the offer when a CD matures May 15 th. Since they already have some of my money I may have to “ borrow” up to 100k from spouse. It has to be new money to them.

Should I move all my retirement accounts to Fidelity?

OP here, thanks all for the input. I have an appointment scheduled at my local fidelity branch on 2/7/23. I have already asked for a transfer bonus so we shall see the offer when both DH and I go in. I’m pretty sure I will tranfer all funds to Fido. DH may transfer his cash approximately 250k...

Rollover leftover 529 funds into Roth IRAs

You can only roll over the max Roth limit per year. So these rollovers might take 5 plus years to accomplish to meet the allowable 35 k limit. A pain in the butt but I still plan on using DS 529 funds to buy him some old age security. DD May use all her funds I guarantee she’ll find this...

Do you guys use an accountant?

My DH is loyal to his accountant. Before we got married I used TT, easy. My CPA sister uses TT because she says she has to think enough at work and TT is just data entry. My DD is currently doing an internship at an accounting firm she plans to do her own taxes this year for the first time at 23.

Should I move all my retirement accounts to Fidelity?

401k with former employer picked options. There is a broker option but I am thinking why bother if my goal is to have all my accounts at one institution. I’m 56 so I can’t access the money until I am 59.5 at the earliest. Retired Nov 2020, but got an easy RN job I like working 2 days a week in...

Should I move all my retirement accounts to Fidelity?

It’s a stable value fund offered by former employer with no other option with a 0.35% fee, so even less apy.

Should I move all my retirement accounts to Fidelity?

I have multiple retirement accounts. 2 Roth accounts, one at Ameritrade, one at fidelity. An old employer account that was with Fidelity and I did move that account to a Fidelity IRA. My assets with Fidelity only totals about 100k. My Ameritrade Roth has another 100k. My largest account is with...

"You weren't harmed" instead of "I'm sorry"

Years ago my dentist said I needed root planing done at 2 separate appts. At the second appointment I said to the hygienist didn’t you do this side last time? She convinced me I was wrong and carried on. My insurance denied the claim because they billed for the same side twice. I had my answer...

Planning my last 20 years, finding a place.

Sounds like you like Florida. Maybe you should start your search there. DH and I would love to find an alternate location to retire too. California is in decline we see it all around us. But it’s difficult to leave the perfect weather. I laugh when people talk about earthquakes the last major...

Is the third time the charm?

What’s your plan till FRA? Deplete the 600k? Where is the 80 k coming from? 10 years to FRA and 2.5 till you can access the 401K. I wish you the best but I am not seeing how firecalc could say 100% success if you haven’t calculated taxes on that 80 k. After taxes 80 k isn’t 80k. You do you!

    3rd Shift Job

My last job was night shift 11pm to 7:30 am in my early 50’s. I hate nights but as a nurse who moved it’s really the only way to get a hospital job in my specialty. What worked for me: 1) giving up all coffee. There literally is no good time to drink it, when you work nights. Remember your...
