    Fentanyl Dangers

The thought of Fentanyl just sounds so scary. I had the same initial thought too about the dealers killing their customers. But sometimes I wonder are the dealers killing their customer or killing potential witnesses? I may be wrong but perhaps Fentanyl is so popular that the dealers aren't...

Social Security Number on The Dark Web

I received an email recently from Discover card saying they found my SSN on the dark web. Discover does a free scan I believe monthly. I'm assuming my SSN got there also from the ATT breach.

Use It or Lose It Letter From Credit Card

I received a letter from one of my credit card companies saying my card hasn't been used for about 32 months and if not used by June, it will be terminated. Think I'll use the card for 1 transaction before June. That will hold me over for another 32 months. I like to keep my options open...

Anyone else NOT watch the news?

Aside from recording the morning news and watching with my finger on the fast forward button to zoom past commercials and the news that I don't want to see, I don't seek out watching news. I figure we are bombarded in so many different ways with "Breaking News!" that ends out not really...

    My 40th Thread...Linux Life

Through settings, I use Timeshift for roll back changes including any personal data changes. I like to go back to a computer's state before needing to roll back. But I do full system images too so don't rely on Timeshift as a backup program.

    My 40th Thread...Linux Life

I was hopping back to MX-Linux the other day but got flustered too. Not with MX in particular but the process of different distros better at different things. For example, I was on MX a few years back but MX doesn't handle hot swapping. So I hopped to Linux Mint which does handle hot...

AI Chat Is Not All Bad

I've been using MS Copilot pretty often lately for some computer tech questions. Actually, it's been quite helpful for quick, to the point answers. I'm about name him "Roger" for the character in the movie "Airplane":).

    Online Chess Videos

I'm 3 points away from my highest rating back in Feb when I was on a hot streak. I do think I'm a better player now than back then as I've added some more chess skills (adapt or die :() along the way. As of today, my record (rapid games) stands at 185 wins, 170 losses and 27 draws.

    My 40th Thread...Linux Life

When in doubt, restore from a backup. That's what I probably should have done sooner instead of barking up different trees. I ended up restoring my system from a Pristine backup I did during my initial Linux Lite install and setup. Fingers crossed now that may do the trick. Maybe something...

Another day, another distro hop. This time, I'm going full circle and going get back to MX-Linux. Still not perfect but more stable then what I've had with both Linux Mint and Linux Lite.

State Tax Refund Lost In Mail

Glad your check finally showed up in the mail. I my annual IRS PIN letter that didn't show up before. Don't know whatever happened. Maybe it got misdelivered to somebody else who just tossed it? Or maybe just in limbo somewhere. Luckily, I was able to request another copy of the IRS...

AI Chat Is Not All Bad

Gosh, I hate typos. I meant to say in second to last paragraph: The result, was not 100% snap of the finger done without tweaking but overall good. It created the logic of code. I did need to fix though as the sequence of a line of code was wrong. Yet, still a helpful experience.

AI Chat Is Not All Bad

I did a Windows update recently and installed with the update is an icon on the lower right "Microsoft Copilot.' I guess it's their version of ChatGPT. I've been meaning to try out an AI Chat but never got around to that. So, I went ahead and asked MS Copilot a few questions to take for a...

    Baseball 2024

From what I've read, looks like the translator did an identity theft thing pretending to be Ohtani's. Changing alerts so Ohtani didn't even know activity was happening. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/baseball/mlb/shohei-ohtani-interpreter-bank-fraud-1.7170900?cmp=rss

I have COVID and need help. I am in panic mode

Speaking from my own experience as I know each covid situation is unique to the individual. When I had covid (first and only time that I know of), first symptom was feeling fatigued. Then soon had other symptoms when the light turned on and I said "I'm feeling like the way I did after I got...

    Luggage

I own a couple of Samsonite hard cases of different sizes. I like the idea of not having any zippers to invite zipper slashers. On the downside, if the luggage gets checked in, expect to have it tossed around and scuffed by the baggage handlers. That happened in my case. Brand new luggage...

Better To Book Hotels Directly or A Booking Site?

Aside from Booking not having the AARP discounts, I really like how they do things. Expedia-aarp is functional too but one thing I noticed is I have to be careful to not book non-refundable rooms by mistake. Whereas I think in Booking, all are cancellable, book first, pay at hotel.

Better To Book Hotels Directly or A Booking Site?

Your approach sounds similar to what I was doing. But for me found that too exhausting with all the different accounts, websites and points to keep track of.
