Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

I think my subconscious made me do it, lol. I noticed it later, and left it in.

Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

OK, the beer store must have read my complaint here. I went in yesterday and found exactly what I wanted (almost) on the discount rack. Russian Imperial Stout pints in a 4 Pack for $7.99. A little too high to be considered a cheapwad find, imo, but the Russian is perfect, I must admit.

Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

Getting dispirited by my last few trips to the discount rack at my beer store. All they have lately is overpriced 4-packs. Used to have cases of 24 12 oz cans or bottles of the 'good stuff' imo (heavy, hoppy, high octane) for $19.97. Haven't seen those for a month ! Sigh... Also, now I see...

Owner changing county zoning on property next door

I think it would be better to have a real meeting in person, but yes, sign on to the virtual. There might be something in the plan you don't like, like a dumpster being put right next to your property line. It could be legal to put the dumpster there, but just by requesting an alternative, you...

Long Wait Time to get Appointment with Dermatologist

I'm not on a supplement. I'm on a medicare advantage plan. I didn't know different types of insurance affected your place in the treatment queue. When I told the receptionist my insurance, said said "Oh, good, that's one we accept!" I could have mentioned in my first post that I was...

Long Wait Time to get Appointment with Dermatologist

Wow, 4 months. Seems long, but one would think that they take into consideration how fast different things spread, when scheduling appointments.

Long Wait Time to get Appointment with Dermatologist

I noticed a small flesh colored bump on the tip of my nose in Dec, 2023. Receptionist said earliest I could see my derma would be in May, 2024. I told her I wanted it to be looked at as soon as possible, and she said I could get in earlier if it doubled in size or started bleeding. I thought...

Cheapwad Finds--Opposite of Blow That Dough!

Fixed my hvac system myself, avoiding who knows how much $$$ on a repairman. It was a relay. Tried to cheap out on the replacement relay. Several cheap and good relays on the market for under $10 each. Heartbreak, though. Nothing fit in properly, even though the sellers said they would. Ended...

Examples of current inflation - add yours!

Not sure what the old price was, but my gf and I had free tickets to a swanky hotel Sunday brunch. It was quite good, very clean historic place, marble bathrooms, nice waitresses, great prime rib, piano player. Had we paid, the price would have been $49 each ! The place was about 2/3 full. I...

Yeah, that small 'snifter' glass for high alcohol content beer started about 10 years ago. The excuse was always that they were 'protecting' you from overindulging. Very annoying.

    Your recent repair? - 2021 to ?

About relays. The guys online who were helping my fix my heat and cool system were saying it might be a relay. I was skeptical, but yep, it was the relay. I had time, being retired, so I was able to carefully take things apart, and replace the relay in the air handler and get the fan motor...

4-pack of craft beer pints, in cans, at beer store a few days ago, $23.00. Luckily for me they have a discount shelf where I can get decent craft beer for 40% off, due to it nearing exp date. Nothing new, though. Craft beer prices have been going insane for 10 years already, lol. Plenty...

USB-C on cell phone to USB-A on computer to transfer data. Easy?

Update: it worked! I transferred a photo from my phone to my computer. It is the 'Best Buy Essentials' brand.

USB-C on cell phone to USB-A on computer to transfer data. Easy?

Went to BestBuy to shell out the big bucks. The BestBuy website said the cable was USB-A to USB-C and was a 'charge-and-sync' cable. Got to the store, and the cable was there but now it is just called 'charging' cable. No mention of data-sync on the box. Reviews online say it does good data...

USB-C on cell phone to USB-A on computer to transfer data. Easy?

Update: found a USB-A to USB-C cable at another dollar tree store. It says 'charging and data transfer' on the package, and yes, it does charge, but the phone keeps restarting itself during the charge. And it won't do file transfer. Doesn't show as connected to my computer, even when my cell...

Assisted Living facility trying to force my Mom onto pricey 'medication management'

Update. I had her doctor take off all the meds from the med list, except for synthroid. End result is that Mom is only taking synthroid now, and the nursing director here agrees that Mom is able to take her synthroid properly, so there will not be any 'med management' gouging of Mom going on...

Assisted Living facility trying to force my Mom onto pricey 'medication management'

She moved from ind living in this ccrc to assisted living in Aug of last year, because she felt weak, and had other problems. She has bladder cancer, which bleeds sometimes and makes her anemic. Has gotten 3 transfusions in the last 6 months. Drs are talking about palliative care and hospice...

Assisted Living facility trying to force my Mom onto pricey 'medication management'

$450 is the *minimum* charge per month. That's for 1 visit per day. 2 visits per day bumps it up to $620 per month. 3 or more visits per day is $850 per month. On her current regimen in skilled nursing, she gets 3 visits per day for meds, and they want to continue that regimen in assisted...

Assisted Living facility trying to force my Mom onto pricey 'medication management'

Is that $250 a typo? Was it meant to be $25? My Mom's price for 3 or more visits per day, no matter how many meds, would be $28 per day. And yes, everything is over the counter, except the synthroid. She has been self-medicating with the synthroid for decades, and still is.

Assisted Living facility trying to force my Mom onto pricey 'medication management'

Looking for an angle with which to refuse this 'medication management'. Background: Mom is currently in skilled nursing, scheduled to go back to assisted living in 2 days. Someone assessed her as not being able to self-medicate. I told several people at the CCRC she is in that I think she can...

USB-C on cell phone to USB-A on computer to transfer data. Easy?

OK, thanks! I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay market price for whatever is available in the way of straight up USB-A to USB-C cables at the full price places, since Dollar Tree is sold out around here.

Bought a small flashlight at the Dollar Tree for $1.25. Got it home and discovered it didn't include batteries. I'm sure it had batteries last year.

USB-C on cell phone to USB-A on computer to transfer data. Easy?

Yes, it's me. Same Windows 7 computer. Still using just a modem, no wireless, no router. Yes, it is going well, but I sometimes think about buying the 'box' from Amazon with Windows 10 and lots of capability, and maybe faster page loading. By the way, is 'syncing' the new buzzword for...
