    LOL!'s Market Timing Newsletter

I think I may have gotten a lucky break, maybe. Not exactly timing, but I'm in the middle of a 401k rollover right now. No telling what could happen next week, though.

    Leaving a 401k with a previous employer.

Previous employer's 401k does indeed have a stable value fund - and I do have some money in that. And my largest holding is an institutional fund that I am very happy with (VINIX). The plan's choices are very limited (around 8-10), but they all seem like solid choices.

    Leaving a 401k with a previous employer.

Yes - I meant to mention that. The fees are all around .07% for the five funds that I have.

    Leaving a 401k with a previous employer.

Hello all, I was wondering what everyone thought about leaving a 401k with your previous employer..? I am happy with the available fund choices and allocation, and the returns have been just dandy. I am currently working part-time with no available 401k plan available to me at my current...

    100K Milestone

That's the one big question mark for us..housing. We're ready to move from our 1st house, but the market is just so bad. For everyone, I know. We bought our house in 2004 in a decent area, but crummy city. It seemed like a good idea at the time, as we bought what we could afford (how could that...

    100K Milestone

Well, we were able to save a lot more to our retirement accounts before our two peanuts came out of their shells. We had to back off on our accounts a bit to contribute to their 529s....but that's worth it. And once we're done paying for daycare (the real stressor for us)...we'll have more money...

    100K Milestone

Thanks for the well-wishes. I'll definitely keep contributing what I can, but the budget has become slimmer with the addition of 2 kids in the last 3 years.....and one with a 2-month stay in the NICU!

    100K Milestone

Hello all, First time posting in awhile - though I lurk and read sometimes. Just wanted to throw out some good news...finally hit my first 100k after 12 years of working and saving! Seems like I should've hit a year ago after reaching 99,500 early last year. But...my contributions and earnings...

Soooo..what exactly does a FICO score above 800 get you..?

The loan amount is small... only 70K. We are refinancing to a 15-year mortgage from a 30-year that we have 18 years left on. The closing costs are nice and tidy at $299. Our interest rate, as it stands, will drop to 4.25 from 5.25. It's not bad, I just wondered if we could do better. Thanks...

Soooo..what exactly does a FICO score above 800 get you..?

I'm in the middle of a home refinance, and I just received my FICO score..which is 811. Forgive my naivety, but can interest rates be negotiated based on your credit score? Now.... I'm assuming that they can, but I just want to pose the question to the group to, more or less, gauge just how...

Did anyone read the comments at the end of the "iwillteachyoutoberich" blog post? Some excellent points here.... "Couldn’t agree more. Modern Popular Music?

Anyone ever heard of the Decemberists? My apologies ahead of time for the blips in the video. YouTube - The Decemberists' "The Mariner's Revenge Song" I'm a huge music fan and always have been ever since I was a wee wittle wun. I'm 35 now and try to keep up with music just as much as I did...

    Just introducing myself...

Hello all, Just wanted to say that I enjoy these fine forums of yours. I've read quite a bit of posts on this site and the positivity and "everybody working towards a similar goal" mentality is refreshing. As for my ability to retire early... well, I am hopeful! I am 35 and married with a...
