Fat people can be as healthy as thin people? Hmmm

Here's the the problem: They measured BMI which, if you lift weights on a regular basis, will yield an obese result even if the individual is not. Muscle is much denser than fat and even water-more mass per unit volume. IOW, BMI may not be accurate.

Wanting Financial Freedom, but A New Car Is My Current Goal

Sorry, but I'm not getting this. Lately there have been many people posting, at least what seems to me as, extremely outrageous clamis. I'm not trying to be nosey but how exactly are you: 1. a fulltime student 2. work 1 full time job and 3. work 1 part time job All while 5 months (I think...

Q: Worst part of your j*b?

I have 8 different bosses right now. Bob#1: I beg your pardon. Peter: 8 bosses. Bob#1: 8? Peter: 8, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have 8 different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled. That and the fear of losing my job. But...

    Measuring inflation (CPI) on Morningstar...

Thanks for the replies. This is gonna be hard to explain just by typing...so if I want to calculate inflation say from 10 years ago until present, how do previous years factor in??? Or do they??? It's the same question I run into when looking at other mutual funds. For example a fund NOW is...

    Measuring inflation (CPI) on Morningstar...

...or any other site really. I've been on the federal government's website for their version of a 401k (called a TSP) and they show the growth of $100 (for a given fund) versus inflation. I'd like to be able to do the same on Morningstar, that is measure fund X against inflation. Does such a...

Columbia Professor Jeffrey Sachs Says America in Decline, Politicians Corrupt

Well no of course not. I don't think any school is gonna tell you that, or even elude to it at all. I had to learn the hard way went I started in industry. The guys from the big schools also have better job security.

Columbia Professor Jeffrey Sachs Says America in Decline, Politicians Corrupt

Well...I have a BS and MS in chemistry and I can say without a doubt that the jobs go to the guys from either Ivy League (Harvard, Yale, Columbia, etc) or big tech schools (MIT CalTech). A degree from a state school is basically a joke-its about how "smart" you look on paper. As far as...

    59 Year Old: Decisions,Decisions

Could not agree more. This is 100% how I feel and think about life EVERY SINGLE DAY. Funny that the issue of death came up. One of my professors and a chair on my thesis commitee died yesterday at 42. He was diagnosed with brain cancer last September and (long story short) he felt that because...

Hello to all and how did you do it

Right =) No problem man I said before the post "this is from another poster". Since it was from another thread I didn't know if quoting it would tranfer to this thread, so I just used the old trusty crtl-c, crtl-v

Hello to all and how did you do it

Yeah, I've heard it and its a BROAD saying-all things to all people, is just doesn't work. There are things in this world that I would love to do, but unfortunately making a living off of them is the biggest issue.

Hello to all and how did you do it

Again, like I said that is not my net worth. The point of thread was to see how others accumulated such massive wealth is their 20's and 30's. I agree with you about work/life/happiness, but sometimes you are in a situation that is hard to get out of.

Hello to all and how did you do it

Honestly yes. I'd say its part apathy part boredom. I know I don't want kids. I live with my girlfriend that has a 4 yo from another guy and her behavior has confirmed my theory that 1.humans are bascially...well lets just say difficult to deal with (no offense to anyone here and since I'm new...
