Amway - how do you respond?

Amway friend died broke I had a friend and his wife who died earlier this year in their 80's - broke. They poured most of their adult life into Amway. He even spent time in Japan recruiting dealers. After their death I found out you can never retire from Amway or you lose your entire network...

Want to retire now but with concerns

I retired in 2011 at age 55. Haven't been bored yet. Today was actually a slow day for me. I'm a hobbyist beekeeper and bottled 24 pounds of honey today. Other than that I picked vegetables from the garden and pulled a few weeds. Yesterday I hiked almost four miles and took a nap in the...

    Best investment for grandchild?

Since you don't want to report this investment on your taxes you would need to gift the money to the child via an UGMA/UTMA brokerage account. This account is the least restrictive when it comes to using the money. You can open the account and be the custodian since you are a grandparent. The...

    Why Upgrade Razors?

No Upgrade for Me I have no idea how long I've been using my Mach 3 razor but it's been a long time. Tried the 5 blade razors a few times over the years including Harry's but don't like them. I hope they never discontinue the blades for the Mach 3. MACH 3 to the grave!

Giving/gifting to someone that doesn't need it?

The fruitcake I make, IMO, is better than Collins Street bakery. But I don't care for the nuts and that's why I only use fruit in mine. Maybe it's the nuts people don't like.

Giving/gifting to someone that doesn't need it?

Fruitcake Seriously, I love a homemade fruitcake. Tried the fancy commercial ones but they are nothing like a good one that is homemade. I make one or two a year, no nuts only fruit, let age wrapped in bourbon soaked cheesecloth for at least one month before consuming. Best flavor after aging...

    Tax software functionality and deals

With the H&R Block CD, if you stop installation just short of giving payment info they will offer you a further $5 discount to continue with the install. Been doing this for several years. Might even work with the download version. Someone give it a try and let us know.

Is the Ice Cream Machine at your McDonalds Broken?

Those Taylor ice cream machines used by McDonalds 40 years ago had about 20 parts to clean. I was a Food Microbiologist and one of my duties was testing soft serve ice cream from fast food restaurants for compliance with food safety laws. We tested for coliform bacteria in the samples. In the...

    I'm craving Fruitcake

Two a year I make two fruitcakes each year. One in November and the other about six months later. And I'm the only one who eats it! I leave out the nuts and increase the fruit. Better than Collins St. fruitcake in my opinion.
