    Consideration for taking SS early

Took it at 63 vs. my plan to take at FRA date (66 + 2mos), or possibly later. Reason for going with 63, diagnosed with atherosclerosis at 62+ and got my first couple of stents soon after (seem to get another one or two every couple years in some part of body).

Federal Tax Withholding from MegaCorp Pension

I have a mega-corp non-COLA'ed pension. I'm not sure if everybody can do this, but the "system" I log into for my retirement benefits management allows me specify 99 deductions and an additional $ amount for Fed and State Tax withholding so that is what I do so I know how much "base tax" I am...

Confused on how to do numbers

I think Muni Bond interest is counted towards determining total income for SS taxation and IRMAA determination. Not 100% sure, here's one link I found on quick search. https://www.schwab.com/learn/story/not-always-tax-free-7-municipal-bond-tax-traps

    Signing up for Medicare

The process for me a little over 2 years ago was very easy, everything done (which wasn't much) online IIRC. The PIA part for me was dealing with viabenefits for Plan G and D supplements. Saw this thread, maybe it will be helpful...

    DQOTD: Vanguard Consolidated Tax Info?

I have been importing my Vanguard Tax info using TT for ~6 years (After Tax Brokerage account). Just did the import a couple of days ago for my 2021 taxes. IIRC for previous years I had to use my actual login credentials (Username and password). This year I had to use my account number and a...

How much coffee do you drink?

Too much according my Dr. At least 3, sometimes 4 or 5. So maybe ~4 on average. No sugar, sweetners, etc. Just a Dash of 2% milk to give it the illusion of not being black coffee

    Unintended Consequences - IRMAA

Does anyone know if the the SSA (or whatever Govt. agency) automatically checks taxes returns each year (filing from 2 years ago) to determine (i.e.and automatically adjust up or down) IRMAA level each year? Or does one have file an appeal if they in IRMAA stage X, and their income drops...

recommend me a portable jump starter?

I have had a NOCO BOOST GB40 (and a case) for a year or two. Takes up less room then a good set of jumper cables. Works great. Looks like they are on sale at Amazon. Can't speak to the "super high" temperatures. Summers where I am at are in the 90's. I check it twice a year and top of...

Most efficient way to buy/own physical gold and metals?

3% of my nest egg is physical gold and silver. Most of it (~95%) gold. Bought in early 2000's when gold was in the low $300's/oz. Bought in several "buys" that were all less than $5K. Wish I had liquidated it in 2012 (or whenever it was when gold hit ~$1800 or so). If/when I do liquidate it...

Locked out of my TreasuryDirect (TD) Account

Called TD again yesterday and the rep I got this time transferred me to someone who could, and did unlock my account after answering a bunch of "secret" questions. I asked why locked, and she said it was because of bank account changes as you mentioned. Seems strange that it took 3 days for...
