What type of milk do you drink?

I prefer Kiefer (fermented milk). It has a long refrigerated shelf life of several months. I primarily use it on steel cut oats. Would drink it on regular basis but it's on the expensive side and is not always available. I typically buy it Aldi's. $3.29 for a quart.

I've come to rely on RIP posts for celebrity deaths as I do not follow mainstream news.

Illinois State Tax on inherited IRA?

Personal experience here. I am an Illinois resident. Inherited a traditional IRA in 2014 and have had distributions made every year. Currently, Illinois does not tax those distributions. However, can't say how many more years it will stay that way given the poor financial health of the state.

    Food delivery technology

So the "portal" is probably a fancy name for a " secured warming oven" located inside the store. As a comparison, I am not a Starbucks fan, but have observed their "pre-paid pick up counter" and have concluded it is totally an honor system. I could go in and take whatever order I wanted with...

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

Binged watch Season 2 of Jack Ryan. I struggled getting into Season 1, but after several attempts, I did watch the entire season and thought it was good. Season 2 has a much better story line and, at least to me, was easier to follow the subplots (maybe because I watched all 8 episodes...

    Food delivery technology

You, a New Yorker, and I, a near Chicago based individual, you'd appreciate the pizza was thin crust and not the typical Chicago thick crust. Starting to think thin crust wins! It was a very good pizza!

    Food delivery technology

I'm sure this is not new to some, but just experienced a fast food order/pick-up experience that just got me hooked." Normally, I can walk into a major pizza chain and say "one pepperoni please." On a very rare occasion, they may not have a pepperoni and I may have to settle for a cheese if I...

Wow, Just got the renewal notice on Plan D

Also on Humana plan D and received their notification of changes for 2020. Current premium is $23.50 but jumps to $52.90 per month next year. Big ouch mainly because I do not take any prescription medicines. When I signed up two years ago, Humana was the least expensive coverage for me at $19...

Phrase that came out of the blue

I've recently heard people use the phrase "search it up" instead of "Google it". Kind of makes sense given there are other search engines beyond Google.

    Britians version of Hollywood

I acknowledge I am an absolute cynic. I disdain Hollywood actors for their lifestyles and beliefs, yet I enjoy their ability to transcend me to a different place via their acting ability. Having said that, wondering if British actors have a Holliwood equivilant where the general population...

Any gourmet Ramen noodles cooks here?

OK! I am a very patient cook. An addition here and there and then some mariniate time works for me.

Any gourmet Ramen noodles cooks here?

Very lucky I did not live on Ramen noodles in college. However, in retirement, I have since used them as a quick lunch item accompanied by a toasted peanut butter sandwich and lots of hot sauce in the Ramen soup. So local grocer had Ramen noodles on sale so I stocked up. I plan to not use the...

Input requested from those who stream British entertainment.

From other posts on this forum I feel Acorn broadcasting may be the better choice from an entertainment perspective, but my experience/knowledge of Britbox is absolutely minimal. I've decided as the 2020 political commercials start appearing (and I've already seen a few) Acorn TV will be my...

Input requested from those who stream British entertainment.

I've been watch Acorn TV via Hoopla and have discovered many shows that I want to continue streaming beyond the limitations associated with Hoopla (5 selections per month via local library). In researching, I discovered Britbox as an alternative to Acorn and is about the same monthly fee. I...

    General Comment on Popcorn Flavors

I grew up where we had popcorn every Sunday night to watch Wonderful World of Disney. I am talking about 18 years of Sunday night popcorn. Dad, being a farmer, was very obsessed with the sourcing of the popcorn. Princeton Farms was about the only brand he knowingly would eat. Mom would pop the...

    Illinois Gas Tax

It will be interesting to see if the doubling of Illinois gas tax will actually result in the projected increased revenue. I suspect those who can manage their driving habits will decrease the total miles driven each year thus reducing the total gallons of gas sold in Illinois. Also the price...

    Waffles or pancakes?

And absolutely use real maple syrup. Grandparents milked 4 cows twice a day to their dying day. They had a separater on their front porch. Grandmother would save back the cream but would send the milk to town for $$$. The butter and ice cream she made will absolutely send me to an early grave...

Favorite TV series of your lifetime.

Yeah, my apologies as I realize there really isn't no "best" show of all times. I was emotionally motivated to start this thread because of the Asberger's topic from the show "Parenthood". My son will struggle with this well beyond my death, and I only wish more people would be aware of its...

    Waffles or pancakes?

So yes, my preference is biased. Butter churned from milking cows from our farm and maple syrup sent to me each year from Maine. If only some research would show maple syrup is actually more healthy than imitation.

Favorite TV series of your lifetime.

Grew up watching Bonanza, Andy Griffen show, Mary Tyler Moore, etc. which were all great. Started watching Parenthood for a second go round and have personally declared this series is one of the greatest ever produced. The show touches on so many elements of my personal life specific to...

    Waffles or pancakes?

I grew up consuming "made from scratch" pancakes but later in life decided waffles were a better deal, mainly because of the physics of retaining syrup and butter for each bite. I've noticed recently it is more difficult to find waffles on the menu of breakfast franchises. Given the choice...

    Always in seaarch of.....

the perfect sandwich. I am a creature of habit but despite many repetitive actions in life, I am always in search of the "best or better" tenderloin sandwich, "best or better" chicken fried steak and "best or better" grilled cheese sandwich. Well today I happened to venture down to a local...

What new series are you watching? *No Spoilers, Please*

Manifest has been very intriguing and has yet to have a disappointing episode. This is the type of show I would prefer to binge watch as a week between two episodes is too long of a time period. My how TV viewing has changed!

Anyone here who does not like taking medications?

Same here. Haven't been to a doctor for 20 years or so. I'm 66 so keep getting closer to the age of doing/eating whatever one wants because I've lived the majority of my life disease free. At my given age, if I develop an acute illness, I know I will have lived most of my life disease free and...

What is your "goto" junk food?

I'm watching a global athletic event on TV (The Open) which will go for 6 hours or so. Decided to treat myself to non-healthy calories to accompany me watching the event. So what junk food(s) do you indulge in to watch a televised sporting event? Mine is Twizzlers and/or peanut M&M's.
