    Brexit Paper Loss

+1 I bet this knocks the markets down another 8-12% before recovering (not as bad for US markets). It's the uncertainty regarding the other major EU members leaving that will keep it rough for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum

    2015 Expenses

We shoot for about 100K/yr but came in well under at $80K. Moving to a smaller place helped as taxes are significantly lower. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum

    Not a market timer but!!??

IMHO there are always "experts" predicting market movements in one way or another. Look at bond prices since 2010 when all the "experts" said they had nowhere to go but down. I keep my AA within an appropriate range and the rest of the time be just plain lazy. Sent from my iPhone using Early...

Anyone else retire 45 or younger?

Retired a bit over two years ago at age 38 with a wife and 9 year old (11 now). It was a great decision and I have no regrets. However, It took a good 8 months before I didn't feel weird not being at w@$k on a weekday. Now it feels right as rain. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum

Do you need 70% of your pre-retirement income

Not even close. We spent about 20-25% of our average earnings during our working years. We were good at limiting "lifestyle inflation" as our earnings increased. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum

    Really Early Retirement?

That's a smart way to look at it. The downturn in 08-09 was certainly an eye-opener watching significant "paper" loss. Having a large buffer seems to be the only way to mitigate this type of fear. Keeping WR below 2% helps me sleep at night. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum

Well done. I performed part time consulting work for the company I left in 2013 but it only last about 6 months. They wanted more but I was unwilling to give it. When they call now I just tell them I'm busy with other endeavors (mainly golf and anything else I choose!) diehard1997 Sent from...
