    Work is Prison

Get a $35 virgin mobile plan and check your email from a $29.99 smart phone. That's what I'm doing. My company blocked personal email site 3 years ago. That doesn't bother me. When I worked for JPMorgan almost 20 years ago, they blocked almost every website!

Art of begging/threatening Internet provider for promotion rate?

I called AT&T 3 times to get a promo rate but they wouldn't budge. Saw on other forums that people were successful in getting 20 mb for $29.99 but the best they could offer me was $54.99. So I went with TWC. Now I see AT&T is offering promo to everyone for $39.99 for basic cable, HBO, and 18...

    More arguing after ER?

I heard a lot of stories like this at work and online. Makes sense since you're spending so much time together now rather than just spending time on the weekend. I probably will get a part time job just so I can get out of the house to avoid a divorce

If You Were in Your mid-40s

I 'm 40 and plan to retire at 45. Right now, I 'm at 60% stock and 35% cash, 5% bond from holding Balanced funds. I would put more into bonds, but at this interest rate... 70% stock and 30% bonds make sense with the low interest rate you will get from bond.

    Saving e-mail.....who does it?

Work email? I save all of them. It's the only way I keep myself from getting fired. People accuse my staff of crap all the time. Then I pull out email from 5 years ago and they shut the hell up. Too bad 25% of my job is looking up old email to defend my staff.

    Don't pay yourself first?

LOL. I read some of Laura Quinn's article, she has bi-polar. One article say she needs to save for retirement. The next will say she shouldn't have saved for retirement. Then the next article will say how bad stock investments are. 1 month later, she will put out an article that say she should...

    What is your "post-PC" plan?

I use my PC with 27 inch monitor most of the time at home. When I go to the toilet, that's when I use my tablet. When I'm away from home, that's where I use my smartphone. Don't ever see that changing. Why would I give up a PC with 27 inch monitor for a 7 inch tablet?

    Financial Advisor fees etc.

1% is typical. But you might be paying more. The Financial Advisor or Wealth Advisor might have you invested in Mutual Funds, so you might be paying another 1% for the Mutual Fund, so now you're really paying 2%. And if they are really greedy, they might stick you in some F class share or some...

Advice on how to work for terrible boss ....

I'm in almost the same situation. I have a high paying / easy job. Exactly my boss is nice, but my co-workers are nasty. They spend more time backstabbing than working and that really drains my energy. So after having a mental breakdown from all the stress, I decided to not give a F about my...

Checking out at age 40? Start a new career?

Wow. Didn't even remember posting this almost exactly one year ago! It's one year later and net worth went from $400k to $500k thanks to the stock market and saving $40k a year. Job situation is still the same, except I can say I can confirm I'm 100% checked out. I still work hard and care...
