    Saved URLs no longer working?

It appears that Firecalc is now masking the URL so you can't bookmark Firecalc settings and come back later and reuse those settings as a baseline. Any chance we could get that capability back?

    Saved URLs no longer working?

This morning I tried to use a saved URL that I have used previously with Firecalc, but my settings were not recovered/repopulated. Instead the default settings are present. Anyone else having similar problems?

Social Security at 62 - Yes or No

I'm 50 so I haven't really worried too much about SS yet...since my situation will undoubtedly be very different in 12 years than it is now. I however did a little comparison of the total payout year by year of SS if I were to take it at 62, 67 and 70 years old. It is interesting that the...

A question about random wifi security

Be careful assuming that by turning off WIFI and using your cellular provider that you are then secure. There is absolutely no reason to assume that a cellular provider is securing your data for you. In 3G and 4G networks today, your data is only encrypted between your device and the cell...

Pre-Retirement Then Post-Retirement Income Transition Planning

Unfortunately my options in my 401K for bond funds are not corporate bonds but are US Government Long Term Bonds. I am concerned that this contains more risks to principle than is readily apparent so I've not allocated any of our 401K portfolio to this. Just one other point. DW and I work for...

Pre-Retirement Then Post-Retirement Income Transition Planning

I started the discussion due to lack of clarity on my part of how to most efficiently begin taking money out of my investment portfolio. I've spent all these years trying to figure out ways to get the most into it... I've not thought enough about the best ways to get money back out ;D I am...

Pre-Retirement Then Post-Retirement Income Transition Planning

We are maxing out our HSA but it is in a MegaCorp plan that is very conservative. Plus I believe it can't be used for insurance premiums. Part of my reason for the question is the realization of how much we will need to meet our expenses. Especially 58 to 59 1/2. Sent from my iPad using...

Pre-Retirement Then Post-Retirement Income Transition Planning

I'm planning on retiring at 58. I'm 50 now. I have approximately 750K in taxable accounts (within that approximately 35% in a muni-bond fund and 65% in stocks with significant unrecognized capital gains). I have an additional 1.3M in tax advantage accounts with 97% in a 401K and 3% in a Roth...

    Early retirement in my future?

How do you plan on handling medical insurance? That's a big one for me since as I mentioned, my wife has had cancer and is in remission now. They tell us the type of cancer she had does recur so we need pretty solid medical insurance.

    Early retirement in my future?

I could do that... I've considered it, but the MM is sort of our emergency fund. Right now I'm paying an additional $600 per month towards principle and the loan will be paid off in a little over 4 years. If I double it to $1200 per month, I'd pay the mortgage off in 2 years. But there's more...

    Early retirement in my future?

We have set the same expectation.... undergraduate degree is on us but beyond that a post graduate degree is their responsibility. My eldest son is working hard to try and qualify for a PhD program in the sciences that provides full tuition reimbursement. His goal is to make it through a PhD...

    Early retirement in my future?

Hi everyone! I just discovered this site and am new to the community. I have recently begun considering early retirement because I am quite frankly frustrated with my job and no longer enjoy working where I am. I have been working at a MegaCorp as an engineer for the last 21 years. I know...
