    Trip stops along 65 & 75

In addition to the Corvette Museum, the Corvette Plant used to offer tours of the production, probably still does and would be worth checking out. Maker's Mark and other Bourbon distilleries are definitely worth the detour. If you are enjoy National Parks you might stop at Mammoth Cave...

    Trip to Texas in 2016

Start at the San Jacinto Monument/battleship to get an introduction to Texas history. Next to Galveston. Then to Houston, Austin, Fredericksburg, and San Antonio. If you're up for it, then head further West to Fort Davis, Alpine, Marfa and the Big Bend. For even more, assuming you have even...

    Determining State Residency

Another consideration not to be overlooked is your will and estate plan. You should consider some legal advise and probably update your will. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum (that's why it's brief!)

    Is Gold worth owning?

There could be a time when owning some gold could be quite useful. Same can be said about land. Some very caution folks probably own gold, land, munitions, etc. And. They may ultimately be the wise ones. I do not own gold. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum (that's why it's...

    I like Oil

Buying on bad news can be profitable. Or, one can look foolish. Be careful! Buying Exxon after the Valdez spill worked out pretty well for me. But, I did not believe in BP after the Gulf of Mexico spill. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum (that's why it's brief!)

$3.4 million provides $210,000 annual retirement income?

In my final analysis, encouragement of personal responsibility will ultimately help eliminate personal dependency. Thus, I am not a proponent of discouraging savings or wealth preservation. Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum (that's why it's brief!)

$3.4 million provides $210,000 annual retirement income?

I really look at this as a political move rather than a way to increase federal tax revenue. How many taxpayers actually have excessive amounts in a tax deferred account? Sent from my iPhone using Early Retirement Forum (that's why it's brief!)

    Work is Prison

Times have changed. My tech friends acknowledge that corporate networks must be secured and cannot allow computer computers accessing social media sites as well as other ISP's for email. I would suggest you completely separate personal from work - from here on - everything. Too much...

    Lucky or Good?

Perhaps my view is overly simplistic, but, I divide most people in two groups: savers and spenders. It is very difficult to get someone to change from being a saver to s spender. It is even more difficult to get someone to change from spender to saver.

    61 and "Actively" Retired

A lot of people my age get a strange introspective look on their faces as if wondering if they will ever get to retire.

Poll:What is the most you've ever spent on a pair of shoes ?

Ah, I splurged on a pair of custom made, elephant hide boots.... over $1,000.00. Love wearing them. Should last.

I'll get through it... I like semi-retired. Consultant sounds a little like I lost my job.

    61 and "Actively" Retired

Retired in January after 35 years in the business, but having a hard time with how people react to my retirement. So, since I'm still involved in my old company (on the board and ownership), I started using the term "Actively Retired"... not sure that's working very well. A lot of people...

Now, I hope we can all get equally upset with the new Affordable Care Act as you have with your pharmacist.

    Becoming a Prepper

No, not thinking about torture. I'm just saying the French rounded up all of the Knights early one morning before anyone saw it coming and it was all over, done. Seems that is how we give things up sometimes. It happens before we even realize it is happening. I'm not sure you can be prepared...

    Becoming a Prepper

So, I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to be prepared unless you are truly, I mean really truly prepared. Take a look at what happened to the Knights Templar in France (only a few hundred years ago). They did not see it coming. And, that is how I see most doomsday situations.

    Jointly owned property question

Market Value I would recommend an appraiser assess the value of the entire property, as well as each unit. Improvements do not necessarily increase the market value of the property. Some do. If one unit is valued $5,000 more than the other, then that would be a fair settlement when it all...

    AOL changing 401k contributions

Internal Revenue I am involved in a small employer 401-K plan (150 - 200 employees) and have found that the IRS drives a lot of decisions. Seems that every time I want to change something with the plan, we can't - we would fall out of the IRS "safe harbor" rules and could have to submit the...

    Snowbird Needs Direction

Too Young! You two are too young for Florida! Plus, you would be surprised how cold it feels in Florida when the temperature dips a little. You might consider the Virgin Islands.... or, other friendly islands where you can find good flight connections from NYC.

Fender Bender - What Would You Do?

Future Liability Any chance the driver you hit did get your information? License number? I'm always concerned that some kind of neck problem, long-term rehab, etc. will surface and you have no insurance protection.
