VIA Disc NP Allograft for spine?

I have not heard of this but I have a degenerative disc issue and in fact I had spine surgery Jan 2023 laminectomy and fusion L3/4 and removal of a synovial cyst. This due to really bad sciatica- long story. I started with just physical therapy and that helped somewhat, but not totally, and...

Long Wait Time to get Appointment with Dermatologist

Never been to one. I do ask my primary doctor to look at something that pops up when I go for my annual.

Anyone else NOT watch the news?

We just watch our little goofy local station for a half hour in the evening. The rest we see here and there on social media occasionally I pick up a couple of free local papers.

State Income Tax: not always perfect

I live in a state with no income or sales . Low home and auto insurance. Property taxes can be high depending on the town. According to Wallet Hub, my state has the second overall tax burden in the country next to Alaska.

Medigap plan G vs plan N

We opted for G , but we know a couple with N who’s had no issues with it. Our state of NH doesn’t allow excess charges anyway.

$15 to drive into new york city

I’m not from New York City, but I am a New Yorker and my husband grew up in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Now retired and living in New Hampshire for the past 4 years we have no intention of ever going back to New York - the city or elsewhere- again.

Article: 'I'm too young to retire': What forced these workers to retire

Yup. I was forced to resign at age 62. I knew I wouldn’t work again after that. Thankfully a combination of smarts and luck allowed me not to have to.

    So grateful for the ACA

Yup. I was forced out of my job at age 62. I stayed on my husband’s employer plan but he wanted to retire a year later. He’s 2 years older than me and would be on Medicare With the help of our FA I was only on $500 per month COBRA for one month. Straight to Silver ACA plan for $34 per month HMO...

    Fidelity Instead...

I keep everything in mutual funds in accounts at TRowe Price- brokerage and retail. I like simplicity and set it and forget it for the most part.

All my eggs in one basket (brokerage)?

It's easier at the same company because essentially they just convert what you already have in your investments in the Traditional IRA into the same investments in a Roth unless you state otherwise.

    Medigap - Direct or Agent?

My husbands we went direct but with mine I used a broker and it was much easier going through the broker. But I actually picked what I wanted and just told him to handle it. Then I transferred my husbands plan to him as well should we ever need him for some reason.

All my eggs in one basket (brokerage)?

We have one major company. And just two banks. One on line and one physical. I’m into simplicity.

Returning to full-time (government) work, mainly to get insurance

Sorry. This makes no sense to me if she’s still going to work. If anything happened and she would quit you’d deal with it then. Why should you have to return to work just in case? Not to mention you could afford an ACA plan or other. Ridiculous.

61 y/o in Atlanta, mostly retired

You can move an old HSA you had with an employer to another company? I didn't know that! We have Optum also and the money is just in a cash account with no interest to speak of. I don't want to put the money in a stock or bond mutual fund but would like a savings account with decent interest...

    Solo Vacations

Honestly I would love it if my husband would do most of the planning instead of me, with just some input from me. It"s a lot of pressure all these years having to be the one to do it..

    Solo Vacations

I think this is awful for her to do. I guess this is where her priorities lie? You need to have a sit down heart to heart talk with her. Maybe even counseling. I would never do that to my husband and I don't even get why she would want to.

    New Rules for Realtors

Was there a time there was no such thing as technically a "buyers" agent? It seemed the standard was a real estate agent was always really working for the seller, not the buyer and the seller was supposed to pay the commission, except in the case of new construction where the buyer pays the...

Considering a retirement move out of town/state

I worked in home health care most of my life and also had to deal with ageing and dying depression era parents who lived in their original home and hoarded everything so I have experience with this. I was forced out of my job/resigned at age 62 while hubby was still working at age 64 and he...
