This weather is awful - 2024 to ?

Some of us in the Northeast got nailed with snow yesterday. Predictions started at 3-6" for Central MA then settled at 9-12" on Saturday. I ended up with 17+ in my city. Wore out the shovel. Now they are calling for up to 3" of rain Tuesday night into Wednesday. Oh the fun of flooding not.

    Drinking water - how much?

The wife and I got Iron Flask bottles and tumblers this year. I fill my 24oz bottle roughly 3 times a day. Add to that the two cups of coffee each morning. I don't drink juice and stopped drinking soda a few years ago. After a sweaty run in the summer I may add to Gatorade powder to my bottle.

    Online Payments via Paper Check

We use the same type of bill payer service from our credit union but the paper checks only clear when the recipient deposits them. Odd that your bank does that.

    Looking for new Smart Watch

Never had an Apple watch but people love them. I'm a Garmin user previously having a Forerunner 35 and now an Instinct. I too use it to track HR on my walks and runs. I'm due for an upgrade and will be purchasing a Garmin Venu 3. Yes it's pricey $450 retail but I use it daily and it will last me...

    How To Exercise Your Brain?

Great post. I do Wordle and Word Hurdle (Solitared) with my daughter daily. Started back up learning guitar. Never learned as a youth so building finger memory/dexterity has been a challenge. Having fun with it though. While my running has tailed off, I'm the membership director of my local...

    IPA Beer Fans

Lot's of good references. Love the Founders "All Day" and pick it up from time to time. Don't drink IPA's like I used to but still enjoy some of the locals. Harpoon and Worcester's Wormtown "Be Hoppy" are faves. Also really like my local Wachusett Brewery just up the road a piece. I do try to...

    Microsoft Office Versions

Like donheff, Google Docs and Sheets works perfectly for me since I retired 3 years ago. I used MS Office at both work and home and all my old files can be imported to Google. No need to pay for anything.

    SPAM Fans?

Always have a few cans of the "original" SPAM on hand. Wife hates it. I LOUVE IT! Even do the Monty Python SPAM chant when preparing. Like previous replies I like to cube it first then fry with onions and jalepeno for an omellette with cheese. I also fry a couple thick slices and slap on a bulky...

What type of milk do you drink?

Unless for a recipe, we haven't purchased milk in over 10 years. DW is lactose intollerent so it's unsweetened almond milk for her (cereal and smoothies). Half n Half is all I use for coffee and other needs. Still enjoy my cheese and use greek yogurt to make breakfast parfaits here and there.

    Microsoft 365 - 12 Month Subscription Deal

Thanks for the info. While working I used Excel and MS-Office extensively. Since retirement I had to purchase a new device and I'm just using Google Sheets and Docs. I've been able to import all my old Excel files into Sheets no problem.

    Budget for Travel

Retired for a couple of years here. This year we have about 15% of our budget (which includes pre-paying for a February 23 cruise this year) allocated to travel. Next year our overall budget goes down a bit (mortgage/heloc paid) and we are at about 20% for travel.

Best month to go to Universal Studios FL

Halloween Horror Nights is our favorite time to go to USF. We stayed at the new value resort Endless Summer last year. Perfect for us and free bus from hotel to City Walk. Mid September works for us.

    Mechanics of Fidelity IRA Withdrawal

So to follow up with my situation. I decided not to call and just put in a sell order yesterday. By late in the evening the transacation showed pending. Early today it was settled in Cash and I proceeded with the withdrawal to Ally. Around 6PM EST the money was at Ally. So while it took a couple...

    Mechanics of Fidelity IRA Withdrawal

I have the same situation as OP. Did a withdrawal in October to be sent to Ally and then asked what I wanted to sell. Worked fine. Did a test on Friday for my January withdrawal and same issue. Wants to go to Cash then requiring me to create a second transaction once settled to transfer to Ally...
