    Retire in a "Rari"

Thanks - yes feeling like I'm in the "prime" of my life so to speak. Definitely trying to make the most of everything while I still have the opportunity to do so.

    Retire in a "Rari"

Thanks! The good news is that I have hit $4.3M in the 5.5 years since I wrote that post so $5M should come in the next 2-3 - so still ahead of the 12 that I was anticipating back in 2018. I've been investing for about 24 years now so have hit a few dips along the way :)

    Retire in a "Rari"

100% - Have definitely checked off the Coast FIRE checkbox. And yes, being able to do just about anything I want with my family (within reason) is a lot of fun... I just want to make sure I can sustain it once work ends. Not being able to have a similar lifestyle to what I have now would be...

    Retire in a "Rari"

Thanks for your reply! Yes - we have one in elementary and one in middle - and when they are not in school, I actually spend quite of bit of time with them. I go to probably 90% of their school/athletic functions even if they are in the middle of the day. This work-from-home job allows me to...

    Retire in a "Rari"

Whoa - it's been over 5.5 years since I first posted in here. In those 5.5 years, that 1.72M in investable assets has grown to $4.3M after the recent run-up. I also now own a new Porsche 911 so I've already nibbled at the "Rari" bug a bit. My employment in tech is still going OK, but I am...

    Class of 2027

SuperCar in 2027? Hi All! Joining/Subscribing to this cohort as it doesn't look like there is a 2026, and 2025 is a bit early :) My goal is to "walk-away" when I'm 50. I will be turning 50 in the second half of 2026... but still be 50 in 2027 so this thread gives me a little wiggle room...

Any other "Car Guys" planning for FIRE?

When I say "guys" - I mean that wholistically and inclusive of all pronouns :) I've just come back to this forum from my first and only thread 4 years ago! https://www.early-retirement.org/forums/f26/retire-in-a-rari-91333.html My "SuperCarGoals" have still not changed, and I'm still planning...

Is there a mortgage payoff calculator that calculates extra payment vs. invest+lump s

I'm more of 7% guy myself - but was just using the $200K scenario and 10% as an example.

Is there a mortgage payoff calculator that calculates extra payment vs. invest+lump s

Nice! Loan Prepayment vs. Investing Your Money But I'll still take that Excel :)

Is there a mortgage payoff calculator that calculates extra payment vs. invest+lump s

Don't tease me! Any way you could attach that Excel file or at least give me the formulas/procedure to set up the same thing myself? Pretty Please!? And you do make a good point about the taxes... I'll have to put in a 15% margin for argument's sake.

Is there a mortgage payoff calculator that calculates extra payment vs. invest+lump s

I'm of the mindset that I too want my house paid off and to be completely debt free, but I believe that my "plan" would still have worked out better for you. Here's how/why: Create a SEPARATE account for your "extra monthly payments" - Automatically save that (helps reduce...

Is there a mortgage payoff calculator that calculates extra payment vs. invest+lump s

Apologies if this is out there... if not, bear with me here. I'm not going to argue the math/psychology of paying off a mortgage early (extra payments/principal) vs. investing/keeping mortgage "forever" What I'm looking for is a calculator (or equation) that can help me figure out how I...

    Retire in a "Rari"

Removing a car seat, and seeing what’s been lurking underneath is downright scary! We do have an Odyssey in the family as well, so my rides are generally spared :)

Damn straight! At the very least - if an "Esta" it is, if would have to be a Fiesta ST: https://www.ford.com/cars/fiesta/models/fiesta-st/

    Retire in a "Rari"

Loving the replies - Sounds like there are some fellow car enthusiasts in here - of all types! First and foremost my goals are to get to FIRE with a paid off house - still about $370K* away.... then we'll see how the money plays out and whether or not the "Rari" dreams come true. While I...

    Retire in a "Rari"

Umm that would "Phat" rides... LOL. I agree that it seems pretty outrageous to buy a six-figure car.. Whenever I see one, I tell my wife, "There goes a house" I am pretty conservative when it comes to most other purchases, but cars are my weakness. My "Rari" dreams will likely end up with me...

    Retire in a "Rari"

That is kind of where I am now. I do have a paid off entry level Lexus SUV to haul the family around in comfort. The Cayman is a lease so I don't feel as attached to it but MSRP'ed around $75k range... and hope to have a little fun with it.

    Retire in a "Rari"

I've been pretty diligent in the "sit tight and ride it out department," and would likely keep plugging away as I did during the 2008 timeframe. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever sold any of the mutual funds (aside from doing some rebalancing/transfers). I haven't really thought...

    Retire in a "Rari"

I have not yet owned an M3 - but it is on my list, and probably the car that I would want if I had to have a 4-door. I am planning on the Cayman S Manual in Atlanta... I only have a "base" Cayman with PSE right now, but it's pretty peppy... interested in seeing what the S will be like.

    Retire in a "Rari"

:( 12 years seems like a very short time for me to basically generate $3MM+ That sounds absolutely insane to me. I'm sure we're in for a correction between now and then... but a boy can dream can't he :) My plan is to keep this post alive every so often.... Hopefully you guys...

Did you really have to make me visualize kissing my sister. Thanks! :P I am thinking about autocrossing the Cayman!

    Retire in a "Rari"

Thanks Dtail! I owned an S52 M Roadster in Estoril Blue when I was younger - and love the Z4! If I don't have the cash flow for the "Rari" or Lambo - yes, my wife's travel aspirations will likely come first :)

    Retire in a "Rari"

Haha! Just saying “Rari” makes me giggle... But yeah.. no guarantees in life. I dont believe my basic calculator figures are too far fetched with my current inputs... but I have a little time on my side and a wife that “claims” she wants to work forever, so I should still have a sugar momma...

    Retire in a "Rari"

I have actually owned an S2000! And quite a number of other “fun” cars. Currently in a Cayman. Haven’t done SCCA, but have been to a performance driving school and hoping to book a Porsche track experience in Atlanta this year. I’ve been a car enthusiast since I was little. So this is more...
