    Covid Vaccine Distribution

My guess is that once this gets going people will start to feel competition for getting the vaccine, and the "i dont want its" will tend to disappear unless there are some pretty bad outcomes. Ha

Who We Spend Time With Across Our Lives

I am fine with spending some time alone, but my feelings about the increased time spent alone due to Covid 19 are pretty negative. When I cannot even guess the mortal risk of socializing, it troubles me. I have a girlfriend, but this "be careful or perhaps die" situation we find ourselves in...

FA for wife after my death?

A simplification? I wonder about giving spouse a below taxable gift amount ( this imagines an unmarried partner) for her to open small positions in 3 or 4 Fidelity mutual funds. A money market, a diversified US stock fund, a diversified foreign stock fund and perhaps anything else that seems...

    Grocery Shopping

I live few blocks from a selection of stores, yet only order since Feb 2020 When the Covid problem is over I will be heading back to the food stores. I actually enjoy this shopping. But for now, I am very happy about the shopper service that costs little, takes away some Covid worry, and gets...

Wow, it’s getting really scary in Texas - and everywhere else!

I know lots of guys who live here, who have been going to work pretty close to daily and who have not caught Covid. It just seems to be a mystery. Ha

COVID Test for Dad’s 90th Birthday

Thank you. I am enjoying reacquainting myself with so many old friends who are still here. This site really works!

COVID Test for Dad’s 90th Birthday

Ditto here. But like so many things, it really depends on how you guys feel about it. Ha

    West coast fires

Every day I learn something new. I thought a gender reveal party was when people undecided about their sex finally made up their minds. I am relieved to find out its different. Ha

I really hope so, along with you.

    What happened to Ha Ha??

Seattle has many good areas to walk, and mine is definitely one of them. I stay away from street problems, I am an old guy and even when I was young I was never a demonstrator. And hills? Plenty hills, and staircases. However, I get winded in San Francisco! One of my sons lives there, and that...

    What happened to Ha Ha??

I am grateful for your and the others concern, and I never even thought that I would be missed. I understand now that I was inconsiderate. i apologize. I had noticed an occasional poster who might get fussed and take his marbles and go home, then come back, then get annoyed again, etc and I felt...

    What happened to Ha Ha??

As we get older it seems to get harder to remain healthy- even when we are exercising to try to be healthy! That pain you describe is really a tough one. Ha

    What happened to Ha Ha??

I am scared of the coronavirus dancing, and most of our local venues are closed to on hiatus. But I am still very into my concept2! I must have overdone a bit because I am dealing or attempting to deal with a common Concept2 issue- stiff back! Good hearing from you DFW! So many old friends...

Living in Tennessee? Pros and Cons?

Good post. I am from that area, but urban (Cincinnati). I think that an ideal later life location is high quality urban or a fairly good sized college town -think Oxord Ohio or Lexington KY, or even many parts of Cincinnati. The big unknowns are politics, and crime trends. In many places like...

    Aging Progression and Getting Old

I think this was a very smart move. Another high return move is make your tub or shower as fall proof as you can. Here in Seattle many sfh’s have steep stairs just to get from sidewalk or drive to the entry. Definitely less than ideal. Ha

    Gold

This is also my approach. I believe that in gold it’s best to market time. I started in the early 70’s. You don’t have to be smart, but overall I have made money. So much investing today requires a lot of technical industry knowledge. Way more money to be made lately with good knowledge of tech...

    Alienated Grandparents

This is awful. I too am a grandfather, and I don’t see my 11 yo granddaughter as much as I would like since they live 850 miles to the south. But it would be much more painful to be banished. One thing I would say in response to some replies on this thread, is that the father (your son may...

    The Evolving American Dream

Anything is fine as long as you inherit or marry a big wad of money. Otherwise, it is wise to consider reality. For example, if you are male and not outstandingly good looking, having plenty money will definitely improve your social life. And with respect to the joys of coffee houses, works...

Time to let a friend go.

Yes, for a man “platonic” means he just hasn’t been able to get her in bed yet. Eventually if he can’t hook the fish, he will put away his pole and go home. And of course a certain type of woman likes being wanted while knowing that nothing will be required of her. Ha

    Intermittent Fasting great results

Very similar to me. I have been low carb for close to 25 years. And for the last year or so probably no more than ~15 gm/day. I wear a smaller belt than I wore almost 60 years ago in college. But my dad was diabetic for almost 50 years, so genetics must have a lot to do with all this.

    Intermittent Fasting great results

I weigh a little less than I did at age 15, and I have good muscularity. But my fbs averages 112 mg/dL. I can’t make any sense out of this, and I doubt that ever will. I think fasting might make a difference, but I struggle to handle what to me feels like hard deprivation. I wish I could respond...

What's with the moving to Florida thing??

Me too. I lived 2 years in Eastern WA during the late 60s when we had some lows of -40F. I loved it, but I would not so much now. Lying down in the snow to fit chains back on, sliding into snowbanks, etc etc not really fun anymore. But thankfully there is a lot between that crap and bug heaven...
