    New Rules for Realtors

Our previous home sale the agent was terrible. Won’t go into everything. The house we purchased when we moved has been the best agent we’ve ever encountered. We were new to the area and so she toured us around, told us what areas to stay away from, had a list of different specialty inspectors...

    New Rules for Realtors

Not to burst anybody's bubble unless you are one of the original plaintiffs it should be about a $5 gift card. The settlement is $208.5 million. Just the period between 2020 and 2024 there were over 20 million home sales. The lawyers are asking for a third plus expenses. So just by those numbers...

    Fast food _McD's fish sandwich..shrinking?

Arby's seems to still give a decent amount of food for the price. We get their coupons in the mail about every two months and one of them is two regular roast beef sandwich, two small fried and two small drinks for 14.99. We go and the meat still seems to be loaded on them. I used to eat a...

What exactly does FEMA Flood Insurance cover?

We used to live in North Louisiana. We had to have named storm damage on our policy through USAA. Yes, 300 miles inland we still had tropical storm winds and once still had a cat 1. FEMA insurance covers water damage from floods. What causes the flood is still a gray area to me. We had a similar...

    UHC/AARP Medigap Plans

New Mexico, at least for my wife, is June as well. I don’t start until next year. Now I’m curious as to when they will be posted.

state tax on $60k income (MFJ)

You are welcome. A lot of people also recommend irscalculators.com. I think they don’t have the NM state exemptions updated for SS as that law for NM changed with the 2022 tax year. Others maybe off as well.

    Spouse is Afraid of Flying

I’ve flown a lot over the years. So where along the way I developed the sense of I don’t like to fly and get some fear and anxiety. I’ve been catapulted off and aircraft carrier and helicoptered several times off an aircraft carrier in my Navy days. Didn’t bother me then. Last year we flew out...

    Road Trips 2024

My office was in North East Bossier and we lived in South Shreveport off of Youree drive. I20 around the bridge always seemed to be a mess. If I was traveling east and had to stay in the area I would take 220 around and stay by the track.

    Road Trips 2024

Lived in Shreveport for 18 years. If it was me I would keep driving and not stop. If you need to stop go all the way through and stay near the horse track in Bossier City. Or stay at the Margaritaville Casino at the Bossier City boardwalk. If you don’t like the casinos there was a Marriott at...

Another analysis: Why Early Social Security Provides the Greatest Spousal Benefit

Very true. It’s the planning to me that is important as well. I probably should have stated couple or individual. As a couples decision we know that either one of us can live comfortably whether I take SS now or at 70 when one of us passes. She took hers at 62. I’m younger so it’s now a matter...

Another analysis: Why Early Social Security Provides the Greatest Spousal Benefit

I read these threads every time they come up here, at bogleheads and the different articles on the internet. It’s mostly the same with the same reasoning for early at 62 or at 70 or somewhere in between. A few variations on the reasons. Everybody has their own justification and that’s good for...

Do you want to manage it?

We got rid of a lot of stuff when we retired and moved. We now think about things and if we really need them before buying. A neighbor has a small house with a three car garage. The garage is filled with stuff. They have two storage sheds filled with more stuff. Their three cars sit in the drive...

New Weight Loss/Obesity Drugs Could Transform Economy

I used to weigh in at 275 with BP of 150/90 and just borderline pre-diabetic. Now I am around 185 and BP 116/65. No meds for BP and doc never tried putting me on them. When I was working I would have several sausage biscuits for breakfast, usually a big lunch out or diner food if on the road and...

Which advisory option for spouse surviving me?

My wife and I had a good meeting with a Fido advisor back in mid December. He initiated the call and I thought it would be a sales pitch for AUM or annuities. I accepted it so the wife would have a better understanding of them, simplify our portfolio and her to have a contact point. She’s...

Question about Social Security and Medicare Premium Deduction

I think it’s strange that SS doesn’t have an online with holding for taxes. I have a small federal pension and my online account with OPM allows me to designate a federal and state with holding in any amount. You would think with the ability to sign up online for SS you would be able to...

    TurboTax Max Discount Watch

I always wonder that too. My email showed the picture of the delivery of the gift card to my front door at 4:31 AM this morning and there it was. Not sure how much it costs for delivering a $10 gift card like this. They must send out a lot from the distribution center. I know the regular prime...

    Amazon Prime Streaming with Commercials

Shows streaming directly on prime were previously commercial free. Freevee which is a prime service has commercials. Also the free streaming services such as Tubi have commercials. Are you using a fire stick or fire cube to stream another streaming service and it’s that service that has...

    Amazon Prime Streaming with Commercials

True what you say. I think originally you signed up for prime to get the free and fast shipping and a few other things and the streaming was a bonus. Now it appears the streaming is what you want and the other things are marginal at best. I felt like you did with the Disney legacy bundle that we...

    Amazon Prime Streaming with Commercials

I had read about this earlier this year, but got the official email today. Starting January 29th, Movies and TV shows streamed on Amazon prime will include commercials. To avoid the commercials I can pay $2.99/month. Your start date maybe different. We will be watching commercials, although we...

    Went to a movie

We use a whirly pop popcorn maker by wabash. Hand crank and works pretty good. To make life easier we buy their all in one kits as well. A little more expensive but is the right amount for the popcorn maker and don’t have to measure anything. It’s all on Amazon.

    Went to a movie

The last movie we saw in a theater was the original black and white King Kong. We aren’t really that old. The theater where we lived would show old and classic movies at times. This was during the early stages of COVID and there were a list of upcoming movies that we were going to see, but we...

Fidelity Planner Projected Income & Target Score

Where is the retirement planner score? It used to show as a meter on the first page and has been gone awhile. Could it be because I’m retired and no longer projecting this?
