Toyota Highlander hatch stuck in Open

We have a 2019 Highlander and had that happen soon after we purchased it. I called the dealership and I believe I talked to our salesman. He told me what to do and it went right down. It was something very simple but I cannot remember what it was. LOL! I guess that is why I am on this site. I...

Different Kind of Drug Dealing in The Villages, Florida

I sure feel safer now knowing that law enforcement is handling the big cases like that! Seriously, I thought they were going to make those drugs non-prescription. I believe I read or heard that they are going to make birth control pills non-prescription. Has anyone heard of a woman being...

Why does white plastic turn yellow in Hawaii?

It happens in our home in central Illinois. We have high humidity in the summers. We built our home 31 years ago. However, the yellowing has only occurred on some of our wall plates. Seems like the ones we had for cable TV outlets and bathroom outlets were the worst. Most of the standard plug...

This weather is awful - 2022 to ?

In central Illinois, it rained off and on yesterday and overnight. We had 3.9 inches. It has been a nice summer with only about 9 days of temperatures in the 90’s. The rest of the time it has been 70’s and 80’s. In other words, very normal. Lived in this area all of my life.

    Stealth Wealth

I got the factory seconds from a local store called Econ-O-Mart. They were usually one of above brands in white high-tops with the labels on the inner ankle melted down and silver paint over the name on the in-sole. But hey, I was thrilled to get them! Life was grand!

Run fast and jump high! It was Keds, P.F. Flyers or Red Ball Jets. Not sure which had that ad.

    To mow...or not to mow

I still mow our yard. I am 68. Push mow a quarter acre. Takes just over an hour and another hour to trim, edge, sweep, etc.. I will do it as long as I am physically able. Good exercise and I do a better job than the mowing services that some of my neighbors use. It is also a good no-brainer...

This weather is awful - 2022 to ?

Typical summer weather in central Illinois. Hot this week but going back to a high of 80 degrees on Sunday. No 100 degree days this summer, but close yesterday. All in all, a very nice, comfortable summer.

How many credit cards do you have?

Two credit cards. One is used for all of our day to day expenses. Rarely use cash anymore. Mostly for tips. The other credit card is a backup in the event the first card is compromised and I need to shut it down.

Brother MFCL2750DW Laser All In One Printer

I have the 2700DW model. It is about 7 years old. Have used it a lot as I have worked from home the last few years. Most of my printing and copying is text. I have replaced the drum twice which is based on the amount of copies you make. The machine runs like a champ. Never had a problem. I have...

    First Paid Job

Mowed two of our neighbors yards back in 1965, when I was 10 years old. Paid $2.00 per yard.

I would love to make that trip! My roots are in Norway, Sweden and just across the Baltic Sea in the old Prussia area of Northern Germany. Ant tips on the best way to take that trip?

    Introvert Extrovert

I read a book on Johnny Carson and discovered that he was an introvert. He hated Hollywood parties. Watched him until he retired. Found that somewhat surprising, although he would occasionally mention it on the show.

    Introvert Extrovert

I am a mild introvert. I enjoy going out to eat with other couples or with guy friends. I am fine starting up a conversation with a stranger I might sit next to while waiting for my wife while she shops. I was fine with people I worked with over the years. Here is what I was not good at and...

Do You Drink Enough Water Each Day?

I typically drink about four glasses of water per day. Probably twelve ounce size. More if I am doing things to work up a sweat, and less if I get busy with other things and forget to drink. Water is my main drink. I also drink one cup of coffee a day and occasional iced tea, but they are...

    Do You Visit Relative's Gravesites?

DW’s parents and extended family and my parents, brother and extended family are buried in different cemeteries about 60 miles in opposite directions from where we live. We place artificial flowers on the graves prior to Memorial Day and Christmas. We both grew up in families that did this. We...

Butter: store it cold or room temp?

We store it in the freezer, then the refrigerator. We keep one stick in a butter dish on the counter, but if the house gets too warm in the summer months it goes in the refrigerator. I detest overly soft butter unless I have melted it on the stove or in the microwave for a purpose.

And I said mine was 6 years old, but after checking more carefully, it is 4 years old. I am terrible anymore about remembering how long ago a certain event was!

    Prime Day disappointment

I did buy a new Kindle reader today. Mine was 6 years old and in fine shape, but the current model has a bigger screen and other worthwhile upgrades. Got the Prime Day sale price plus 20% off for trading my old one in ($28.00), plus $30.00 for my trade in. Of course free shipping. With sales tax...

    Florida living

I first visited Naples in the late 70’s. It definitely had more beach vibe then. Marco Island had the Marriott Marco Hotel and their were no other high-rises. The rest of the beach front had small sand dunes and sea grass. Just gorgeous! Now it is one high rise condo after another and you almost...
