    need help with cruises

On the vacationstogo.com website that someone mentioned you can click on solo prices, and then sort lowest to highest, unless she is not concerned about price. Some cruise lines charge 100% single supplement, and some charge none, and most are somewhere in between. That is a good place to start...

Going on my first cruise post COVID

MSC Cruises on the Divina out of Miami. I have never tried them before, and they get mixed reviews, so we'll see how it goes. Price was definitely right for a solo cruise.

Going on my first cruise post COVID

I have booked a cruise for March 2023. Final payment isn't until December, so I have until then to make a final decision. One of my dreams for retirement was to take a warm weather vacation in the winter, and cruising is a fairly inexpensive way to do it. Fingers crossed! I have booked a...

    Feeling sad in retirement

I have been retired since November 2021. I found the transition a bit tough at first. I felt like I was at loose ends, like I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing. I set myself a goal of doing one productive thing per day. It could be something small like a load of laundry, but as long as...

New Observation... days/holiday weekends get fuzzy

I tend to agree with you. I get all my chores/appointments/responsibilities taken care of during the week so that I can relax and have fun on the weekend. I still love that TGIF! feeling. Yesterday the weather lady gave the forecast for the long weekend, which took me by surprise. It was the...

What did you do today? - 2022 version

I moved recently and I did both. The first day my family came and helped me move all the boxes and small items. The next day the movers came and took the furniture. It worked out well. I must say, I was very grateful for all the de-cluttering I did beforehand. I got my Covid booster shot today...

What did you do today? - 2022 version

Got the second of two Ikea desks put together. One is for my computer, and one is for my craft table. Tomorrow I can finish sorting out the den, and maybe actually start crafting.

    House Hunters on HGTV

I have also heard that they already have the house before filming. I always try to guess which one they are going to choose, and I am almost always wrong! I love watching the European ones especially Paris, just to see how they live. I watched one episode recently where the realtor showed...

What did you do today? - 2022 version

Decided I better try to whipper snipper my small patch of grass. I recently moved to a 55+ community and while they mow the grass, we are responsible for tidying up the edges. I hadn't used the whipper snipper in years as I had a guy doing the lawn at the old house. Discovered it was out of...

What did you do today? - 2022 version

    - Started moving furniture to the middle of the rooms in preparation for painters next week. Will finish this tomorrow. - Finished a craft project so I can get it put away off the kitchen table. - Swept the deck, then took a nice break out there with a magazine and a cold drink. - Tonight is...

What did you do today? - 2021 version

I have just been puttering around, doing little tasks around the house. I am thinking of downsizing next spring, so I am de-cluttering and doing little things that I never got around to while working. I went to my favorite dollar store today and got a picture hanging kit so I can put together a...

    Travel hopes for 2022

I am planning an almost month long trip in May 2022 to France and Venice. Airfare booked, but I can cancel for airline credit. I had some pre-covid credit that had to be used before March 2022. The price was good, so I booked Premium. Deposits paid on apartments in Paris and Provence...

What did you do today? - 2021 version

Made chicken rice soup in the crockpot. Got the kitchen all tidied up from that. Did a photography project that was fun. Tired to do a good deed, but the person I was supposed to connect with didn't answer the door. Sounds like it was a bit of mis-communication so I will try again tomorrow.

What did you do today? - 2021 version

Booked a trip to go see DS, DIL and my grand-babies (twins) for Christmas. Put another coat of paint on a little side table I am painting. Went and picked up another little side table that I got used for $20. It goes nicely with my living room furniture, and will replace a bigger one I have. I...

What did you do today? - 2021 version

That's an awesome feeling, isn't it? I was feeling the same way yesterday. Today I made hamburger soup and got the kitchen cleaned up from that. It turned out super yummy, btw. Need to add a few more carrots. Then I started to install a rolling garbage can under the sink but I decided it was...

    Downsizing

I've been gradually getting rid of stuff over the last few years. A couple of times a year I have a free garage sale where I just put stuff out on the lawn for free. Anything leftover gets either thrown out or taken to the thrift store. I also sometimes sell or give away stuff on FB Marketplace.

    Anyone Considering Cancelling Travel

I am planning a trip to Europe in May 2022. When I first started dreaming about it I thought there was no way the pandemic would drag on that long, now I am beginning to wonder. I booked my flight this past week (cancellable for credit) and two of the accommodations, but nothing else yet. At...

I worked about half the day today also, except at my desk here at home. Light in the fridge went out so I got that fixed. Baked a batch of muffins. Booked a trip to France in 2022. I've been waffling on booking the flight, but decided to pull the trigger before the price went up. I can...

What did you do today? - 2021 version

First day of retirement, and I slept until almost 8:00! I watched two photography webinars, did some yard work and worked for half an hour. Also puttered around the house, tidied up the kitchen, did one load of laundry and spent some time surfing the net and trip planning. All in all it was a...

Not really early, but I am retiring this week.

I have a beautiful antique dresser that has been waiting patiently in the basement for over a year. By beautiful I mean it has good bones and lovely details, but it needs some work. I have a couple of side tables also. I only have a small car, so I am a bit limited as to the size of pieces I...
