7 years FIRE'd and doing way better than expected. Why does that worry me?

Wow… that is a really good comment. I’ve kind of forgot about that. It helps put things in better perspective.

Corporate and Agency GSE Bond DEALS and NEW ISSUES

True. And I see now that I can't cancel anyhow. Obviously not a big deal. :)

Corporate and Agency GSE Bond DEALS and NEW ISSUES

At Fido, these are available as a new issue.

Corporate and Agency GSE Bond DEALS and NEW ISSUES

I hate to chase yield, but the 6.83% FHLB I bought last week hasn't settled yet. I guess I could cancel it to get this one. Does that sound possible?

Does anyone here use a MYGA for income?

I own a couple of MYGA's (regrettably purchased before interest rate went up) not for monthly income but for tax deferral purposes. Since then, I've read horror stories online about the challenges of closing out the MYGA when it matures. Apparently the window for closing is short ,and some...

Corporate and Agency GSE Bond DEALS and NEW ISSUES

It's close to sold out. I couldn't even buy $50k.

Corporate and Agency GSE Bond DEALS and NEW ISSUES

Looks like this doesn't close for a few more weeks. If I buy now at at Fido, will the funds be taken from my MM account immediately and sit without earning any interest until the settlement date on the bond?

Gmail Alternatives if Privacy is a Concern

A recent privacy issue with my Gmail account got me to thinking about all the information they likely have about me and my family. So now I'm looking for a better way to do email. I've found three options and wanted to get some input from E-R forum members. Option 1 is to set up a domain...

Any Retirement Calculators That Include Taxes?

Thanks for the comments. I'm unable to do my taxes now as they are too complicated (due to owning a corporation), but I do understand what my accountant/tax preparer is doing and I double check every line. Even if I could do my taxes now, I don't think I could calculate what my taxes will be in...

Estimate Healthcare Costs 12 Years From Now?

Remember... this is for a couple. Not just an individual.

Estimate Healthcare Costs 12 Years From Now?

I based that number on the median value I found on a KFF article which included IRMAA.

Estimate Healthcare Costs 12 Years From Now?

Yes... my $21k estimate was for all health-related costs including supplemental and other out of pocket expenses for dental, vision, co-pay, etc.

Estimate Healthcare Costs 12 Years From Now?

Are there any reliable resources that could help determine healthcare costs in 12 years when my spouse and I join Medicare? My current input for this field in our planning software is $21,000 annually (includes Medicare B, D, supplemental, and OoP).

Any Retirement Calculators That Include Taxes?

You're right. I want to at least remove my WAG on taxes so I can think clearer about Roth conversions and my bond ladder.

Any Retirement Calculators That Include Taxes?

Exactly. I'm searching for software (or website) that will show the tax amounts each year. I'll check out RPM from the BH's.

Any Retirement Calculators That Include Taxes?

I've been using all sort of websites and software for retirement planning and many have an input field for an effective tax rate. But, I'd rather use one that will calculate the taxes for me, though I know tax rates will change. Are there any retirement calculators that can use today's Fed...

    Depressing Thoughts about Retirement

Yup... I did the same thing. Gave a friend a blank copy of my spreadsheet, told him it takes me about 20 minutes per month to update it, and said it changed my life. Once he saw his first monthly total, he stopped doing it as it was too sobering for his over-spending high-life. The blind...

What Happened to the Fidelity Retirement Planner Score

Thinking it was a browser issue, I tried with Edge and Firefox. No luck. Even the rep at Fido said it shows on his page for my account. What the heck?

What Happened to the Fidelity Retirement Planner Score

I noticed that Fidelity's Retirement score/gauge is no longer showing on my retirement plan/goal. It's stupid but I kind of liked seeing it from time to time. Fido users, does it still show for you?

    Fidelity Retirement Planner Analysis Question

It seems reasonable to me to take the hair cut when doing a plan like this, but the amount to trim off might get slightly tweaked based on your AA. I'm 30% equities so I might trim a bit less than if I were 60% equities.

    Fidelity Retirement Planner Analysis Question

I just went through the 19-page methodology paper again and I'm not seeing where they mention the 15% reduction (though for me it was about 12%).

    Fidelity Retirement Planner Analysis Question

I read the fully methodology page a couple of years ago but forgot. Thanks for the reminder.
