    Recommendation for small business insurance?

I used an independent agent for 30 years when I had my business. He helped me a lot. He could place with different carriers & tell your son about hazards that might need specialized coverage. I started out with a captured agent but soon realized he was out of his skill set. Soon found my guy &...

    Condo common area cleaning dilemma

Oregon Construction contractors requires a $25k bond (from memory) for every contractor on a residential job site. It is very common & not too expensive. I'm unsure if a cleaning contractor would fall under this requirement as a "home" cleaner. Probably not.

Retired now for 3.5 years. Sold my business (payment plan for 5 years) My name was part of the business name. So imagine getting away from that. My late wife was worried about "what are you going to do all day" and I married you for life but not for lunch. LOL I had started the transition to...

Does a SNF require social security numbers?

The patients in Assisted living & higher care typically are on self pay (or insurance). When that runs out it is billed to Medicare. Nothing fishy here

Why are older Americans drinking so much

For me it's interesting to sample different whisky & wine. Some of the more popular whisky have a peaty, smoky taste. I try them & don't like them much. So i sample some others that taste better to me. Pendleton is my go to. It started in a local brewery and a few years ago got bought up by...

Why are older Americans drinking so much

have any of posters here had to deal w/parents as described in the article? I ask as we are mostly of the age to be caregivers to family. My folks were mostly teetotalers. Maybe a glass of wine at a party. My dad drank a few beers every night after getting of work (Construction contractor) That...

Condo vs. Co-Op as a Second Home? Pros and Cons

My new wife sold a home a few years ago with an HOA. She saw large special assessments coming soon & bailed to a condo. Condo HOA was fine if a bit behind on maintenance. If going to a condo I'd look very closely at the finances & board minutes for clues on big assessments being talked about...

Adventures in building a forever home (Move in date 12/2024)

That's a lot of concrete. Off hand do you know how many yards? I'm curious on the "brick" pattern on your foundation walls. Was that pattern on the inside of your concrete forms? Never seen it before. I kinda like it

New Beginnings: My DD's Journey to Oregon

as to the car registration she will need to change it to Oregon. I "think" it is supposed to be 90 days but I think many wait until the previous state tags expire. IIRC there was a story recently that about 50% of car tags in Portland or maybe the State are expired. She will save a boatload on...

    Washington State road trip

We were coming back off Orcas island one Spring morning. The rule is you have to be at the ferry check in 30 minutes before scheduled arrival. We were house sitting close by & we were pushing the deadline. We were 3 minutes late....off to the overflow line. Our scheduled ferry was an hour late...

Month long trip bring the laptop or not?

My chromebooks all have USB c chargers. Very good because that is my phone charge port. On a couple trips I had to carry USB a & c chargers. Lots easier now with a single charger. On occasion both will need charging and I'll slip a slow charger on the phone. Have to be careful on the hotel...

Month long trip bring the laptop or not?

Ha! I picked up a Chromebook for $84 at Best Buy for travel. I did have to buy a mouse for $10. It's an 11 inch screen & pretty light. My backpack has a sleeve to slip it in. Makes it a lot easier to book hotels & flights. Almost every trip to Europe we leave at least a week unplanned. No...
