    my toxic inheritance

I might have missed it... are you being PAID a salary for the work you do??? The company I own a small piece in pays the main shareholder a base salary (probably half of what he would get elsewhere) and a 20% bonus on net profits each year... he then gets his share of dividends of the...

Is there a way to see what SS tax you paid every year on the ssa.gov website.

As mentioned, my old paper ones have it by year... the one that is a PDF on the website (which, BTW I am holding in my hand) does not have individual years until 2006... they are grouped prior to that...

    unpairing a remote?

Heck, I was going to suggest that you 'pair' it to another brand TV... then it would not change the volume of your TV... Always a workaround....

A Friend in need , how can I help

Wow... yes, it is worse than you are being told... probably much worse... The $30K would do very little to get them out of trouble.. it MIGHT give them an extra month but then he would need another $30K or more... I would not continue to see this friend if all he talks about is 'needing money'...

    my toxic inheritance

I am with all the others who do not understand... if YOU are the only one keeping the doors open and income flowing then if YOU are not going to be doing it after you sell then your shares are worthless (or close to it)... I have 2% in a small company but have no working involvement with it...

Another Crazy Homeowners Insurance Premium Situation (resolved)

I wish I could have $5K deductible... mine is 2% for most things... 4% for others and I think 5% for hail... and I still pay $2400 which is cheap compared to the over $4k my sister is paying for a cheaper house...

Restaurant adding fee for use of credit card

Handling cash is expensive... and it is variable to the business as the bank charges based on what you get... I did a quick look at found a number of articles on it... I am a bit surprised how expensive it really is... however, I do not know the total cost of a CC purchase... it is not...

A Friend in need , how can I help

Just want to post that I stopped seeing a friend who was horrible with money and even keeping a job... he moved back into his parents home and stayed there until both died... he was always asking for 'help' paying this or that and wanted a 'loan'... I got tired of it and stopped talking to...

Another Crazy Homeowners Insurance Premium Situation (resolved)

My oldest sister got her quote in the mid $4K range from $2K last year... she went shopping and found out that was the going rate... only one quote lower but it was only $100 savings... Mine stayed about the same as last year and I am about 1 mile from her so do not know what happened...

A Friend in need , how can I help

Agree.... my best friend's oldest sister has had financial trouble her whole life... caused 2 divorces... one time her mother called to talk to me about if she should 'help her out'... I said any money given would be wasted because it is her nature to not do what is needed... I had talked...

Restaurant adding fee for use of credit card

Well for me it is adding hidden fees... I hate hidden fees... When I look at the menu and see $10 for a meal, I expect to pay $10 plus tax and tip... then the check comes and I get an added fee on top of that and I do not like it... just make the meal $10.30 and be done with it.. (hmmm...

Show off your dog..or other pet..and how well he/she is treated (and fed)!

That is wonderful. I can see he was a DNR cat with the clipped ear. I volunteer at a cat sanctuary and there are a lot of older cats that nobody wants so it is good that you took him in. I actually think that some cat know how good they have it when adopted older. We also adopted one that...

    Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab?

Restaurant adding fee for use of credit card

IMO the problem is that it is not optional... a tip is optional... the CC fee is not... Also, the fees for insurance or whatever else they call it that some put on bills is also not... resort fees... not... And it is not the amount that is a problem... I can afford the fee... I just do not...

    Is Egypt safe?

I went a couple of times before the Arab Spring and thought it was safe enough... but they had armed guards all over the place.. and armed escorts when you bus went from town to town... One of my sister's went pre-pandemic and she felt safe... but it was for US only and cost extra as they flew...

How to deal with taxable holdings with large gains

The big question would be how much in in the 22% bracket.... if a lot is there then maybe not as much you can do about it... I would think about getting rid of as much as possible using the ROTH as that is saving 22% on all withdrawals... but if your regular IRA is huge then RMDs will hurt...

    Vanguard, Fidelity or Schwab?

I thought you took everything out of FIDO.... I have money in all 3 myself... I have formed a relationship with a free FA at Schwab and if I move more money into FIDO will do so there also... Vanguard does not offer this for free and my level... maybe not at any level... As mentioned in...
