    radiator leak

I would replace the radiator with an aftermarket part. the oem part is still plastic and would still break after a while. An aluminum aftermarket radiator shouldn't cost more than $250, more likely $150-200? Maybe more since it's a bigger "truck." They are usually pretty easy to replace...

How to know which beaches are damaged by the oil?

I'm looking to travel to Tampa in July. I found this site has some information. They mention a few of the hotels have a "Book With Confidence" which means that " if you arrive to find our pristine beaches affected by the oil spill in any way, your first night is 100% on us---taxes and...

Vanguard drops rates for ETF and stock trades!

Does this mean you can "day/week/month" trade with no commission penalty? Buy today... if price goes up 5% sell, if it doesn't oh well, just hold and keep it for a long time as usual. Since ETF's are basically like Mutual Funds right? The risk is spread over a "portfolio" of stocks/funds? I'm...

    Trunk Leak Mystery

I second the rear tail lights. Check to make sure it is properly bolted in and the tail light casing is properly sealed. Also on my car the antenna wasn't properly sealed and water leaked through there. You can get some sort of silicone seal from home depot or lowes to seal it up.

    wrong condo emptied

Didn't some couple search through a landfill to find their engagement ring? I guess that had monetary and intrinsic value though. Is there anything we should do to "help" in case we have a fire, flood, burglary. Has pictures/videos helped/hurt with insurance cases? Does her renter's/home...

    Snow + People = ???

(not sure if this has been shared on the forums yet...) It was a wild weekend here in DC. The federal govt is closed today. I stumbled upon these two articles today. Interesting to see how people react and what people do. I did notice this weekend, how people totally disregard safety and rules...

Prospective Tenants Make Me Nervous - What Would You Do?

It's been almost a year now. I dont remember who that person was etc. I guess that'll just be a lesson learned. And next time if that happens I'll make sure I get my money back. Otoh, I got an even better apartment, bc this one is right next to the grocery store. So maybe it was a good thing I...

Prospective Tenants Make Me Nervous - What Would You Do?

I know you resolved the issue already, but that $150 "deposit"... was that something they initiated or you (your husband) asked for it to "hold their spot" or an "application fee." slightly off topic question relating to that. What are prospective renter's rights regarding application fees...

    radiator - car repair

I went to the mechanic for an oil change. At the last oil change he said, at the next oil change you need to replace your brakes. So when I was getting my oil changed, I told them that they told me last time I would need a brake change at the next oil change... but I told them the brakes should...

    radiator - car repair

Ok, great suggestions from all. Do those barr's stop leak do any damage to the engine? If it's supposed to clog up my radiator... what will prevent it from clogging up the passages within the engine? I didnt have access to that and am not sure I need it. I just tested my engine in the parking...

    radiator - car repair

Car problems, my favorite! My trusty 94 Acura Integra with 140k miles is having a leaky radiator. The radiator is only 3 years old. I replaced it when I bought the car at 115k miles. The owner before me replaced his as well. I'm not sure if theres an inherent problem with the car that makes...

    Need help--opening my own business.

I don't have personal experience running a business, but plan/dream to one day. But have some thoughts... I think building up a professional image is always useful. Business cards don't seem to cost that much and are easy ways to exchange contact information. A simple website works as well too...

    Frequent Flyer Surcharge?

I recently had a nice vacation in Tampa this past weekend. It was very nice - warm and sunny - compared to the cold and wet up here in the Northeast. I got to check out Clearwater Beach, downtown Tampa a little, and also the Florida Carriage Museum and Resort up in Weirsdale, FL. Nice little...

    New Year-New Challenges

W2R, thanks! After much much thought, I ended up deciding to go with the smaller firm. I want to run a business one day and think getting my hands dirty and interacting with all aspects of this smaller firm will give me the experience needed, rather than being an ant in a giant corporation...

    New Year-New Challenges

Yes, I have a security clearance. I don't think the work is as "great" as it used to be but there is good work out there. I've been working like a madman contacting people, networking, and applying for jobs. Even to the point where I've had like 10 interviews in one week. I've been getting so...

Importance of wardrobe with new job

Haha! That is great. I love that. You all must have been a nice laid back team especially you for letting that happen. In my line of work, they would be very very angry at me and I'd be scolded for dressing better than they are and getting the "respect" when meeting someone new. I had some...

    Winter Plumbing issues?

Whoa, that thing looks really cool. I think this problem might have been a little more "industrial", but i'd definitely try that on some smaller issues. Bc i don't want to "push" water and end up having it go into the house, since it was already doing that. On other "smaller" clogs, I'll...

    Winter Plumbing issues?

Thanks for all the help. 2 days of minimal water usage in our house was definitely not fun. After some contemplation about renting some tools and opening the cleanout near our main stack, we called roto rooter. The guy came and said this is normal. Looked outside on the sidewalk on some drain...

    Winter Plumbing issues?

Heres a picture i found on the internet. It's basically like my house. I think the "soil stack" is the main line that does up and down my house. At our basement level, there is 1 floor's height of pipe that is exposed to the outside (dad's theory on the frozen). When we flush/use water...

    Winter Plumbing issues?

We've got some plumbing issues at my parent's house. I don't know anything about plumbing or terminology so I may be using the wrong wording. In our basement we have our washer/dryer and next to it is a basin/sink that the washer drains into. Also there's water lines for hot/cold water...

    New Year-New Challenges

I've stopped my investments. It's hard bc I've been doing it so long and especially now with the market at "such a good price" compared to before. I used to have weekly $100 deposits into some mutual funds. I've definitely cut back on spending. I don't drive much anymore (since i dont goto...

Importance of wardrobe with new job

I think dressing nice makes a difference but don't think having a $500 suit vs $1000 suit would make you twice as nice. I'm in similar shoes as you with wanting to dress nice for work. (i'm a young business/IT management consultant...) I'm always keeping an eye out for good priced suits. I...

I greatly appreciate your help and support. I'll send you a PM. I actually live in Arlington, but it's easier to say "DC" to the outsiders. I'm in IT Project Management with experience implementing process improvements, earned value reporting, project reporting, and some capital planing and...
