Viking ocean cruise -has anyone taken one?

My wife and I did the viking Caribbean cruise in 2018. We had a fantastic time. That said, we did a river cruise this year and would love to do that again. At this point, if we did anything it would be another river cruise.

    Cigars?

I have like the cubans I have had, but I think their primally appeal is that they are not "approved". I like Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Domican cigars. I've visited Drew Estates in Nicaragua and Rock Patel in Honduras. Among the best vacations I have taken.

    Cigars?

My cigar days are Tuesday and Friday. I go to a local shop and use their lounge. I always buy from the shop (need to keep them in business). Most shops will have a "House" cigar which is lower in price and sometimes fairly good. As to why, this is my social circle. Just like sitting around...

when is the best time to tell your boss that you are retiring?

Not when I retired, but about 15 years ago I resigned in my mid year review. Wasn't planned that why. I tried contacting my director for ~ 2 weeks, but could never get to speak directly. She flew out just for my review. She slid the review my way and I slid the resignation her way. I gave 3...

when is the best time to tell your boss that you are retiring?

I'm guessing I was the exception to the rule. I was very up front with my intention to retire at a specific time starting about five years out. It became an office joke to swing by my cube and ask how many days I had left. At about 2 years I out stepped down from being a manager and took a...

Do you listen to younger people?

My social circle is rather strange. Good friends ranging from early twenties to 90s. We get together twice a week and spend hours swapping stories and arguing about all the topics you are told not to talk about. So, yes, I will listen to younger people.

Still running around in a 2013 Ram. I've got about 130,000 on it and so far it just keeps running. We have two other cars, but I still prefer the truck if it is just me.

    nothing when I retired

I left last July. Boss came by the house with a nice bottle of Irish Whiskey (Jameson 18). I still have a few friends from work that I stay in touch with and meet with a few times a year. Honestly, feels about right. The folks I'm still in touch with are the ones I want to be in touch with.

Certified Financial Planner (CFP) training - ?

So.... I actually took a CFP course. The one I took was from Kaplan. It was ~ 10 months of two or three nights a week online classes, and a couple of full week, live classes at the end. I learned quite a bit about things that do not apply to me, that said, some portion were useful. The...

Retiring in 16 days from my day job. I will be working after that, but as an Adjunct Professor. One night a week in the fall and spring for ~ 2.5 hours each night I teach. Love doing it, will probably keep teaching as long as I can and as long as they will have me.
