    Why am I still working?

I just pulled the plug - needed a lay off to push me out the door. I am nervous about the change but have spent 40 years building the funds for the next 30+ yrs so I feel as confident as I am going to. As one other poster stated you can RE now then, someday, find something that you love and...

30/70 asset allocation is the best overall?

This is a great baseline. What is not included is other income, like most ER's I do not include SS in my budget calculations. Since that is variable a table really could not include it. We do 40/60 and are 54 and 53 yrs old planning on ER next yr. I may change the AA when we start collecting...

    Drama

I think that I am very tolerant now - I care about the things that I have control over and really don't accept other peoples problems. I just don't think its productive so until they ask me to do something I just smile thinking that I only work part time and that is voluntary on my part. I...

Retired Couples who Trek the Globe on a Budget

Nope - any gaps will stay in hotels/campgrounds(Tent) etc... I will plan the logistics so we don't do that too much. for example in our area, MA, from Sept thru May you can get a place near the ocean for 900/month with everything included except food. That's 8 months of 12. The next 4 maybe...

Wife and I are going to buy a used enclosed trailer 17 X 7 and fill it with our home. Locate furnished or unfurnished houses/apartments for rent during the off seasons and hang out in those area's. Rent a uhaul to move the trailer and get down to one car.

We have 5 Verizon phone contracts and as they expire we are moving, unless someone has a better idea to TracPhones. That way each phone service can be customized and priced by use and need. Anyone else doing that? If so hows it working for you?

Chip and PIN credit cards for Europe

I ordered our signature cards today. It comes with the chip and both CC and pin enabled. If you select or say its a debt card you can use the pin and it is treated like a CC transaction. This is what the PenFed rep told me today. I plan to use the debt card selection at gas pumps to see how...
