    More withdrawal now?

I only withdraw 3% out of IRA each year. So far have only taken 1% this year. Question is would it be better to take out not only the rest for this year but some additional for next year. Thinking about recession coming. Taxes are not a problem.

    credit card fraud pending

I checked my last statement and saw two charges pending, one of $.20 and other of $.49. They were from Uber eats of San Francisco. I live in Michigan and never used Uber eats. I called Citi and they said they would cancel card and issue new. My question is why would they charge so little if it's...

    Land to buy

Had to temporarily unfreeze all three reports, as the bank takes all three and takes the average score. It' always something, now faced with how much I want to take out of 401k. The 20% down is not a problem. But have to decide if I want to take bigger portion to get payment down. Again I hate...

    Land to buy

Things have moved quicker than I thought they could. We made offer, counter offer, and final agreement. Decided to put 20% down and finance balance. Problem now, when the Experian snafu came up I froze our credit reports. So do I have to open all the reports?

    Land to buy

There are other reasons for the land, from tapping trees for syrup to riding and driving horses and there is the fact that nobody could build across from us. The two miles of road on the opposite side of cabin has two houses. The present owner was going to build and decided to build further north.

    Land to buy

Cabin is on 4 acres. The 35 is heavily wooded and good for hunting. Sounds like I shouldn't hit the 401k For much, take out loan on home or cabin. Hate debt in retirement but don't have enough Roth to take care of it.

    Land to buy

A piece a land across the road from our cabin came up for sale. Problem is we owe small amount on cabin, equity loan on our home. What is the best way to buy the land? If I take too much out of 401k tax rate would probably go up. Don't really want to owe big land loan but what is best?

    Custody/divorce

They tried mediation, with no results. She has become vindictive to the point she doesn't want him to have any custody. Crazy part is for the last ten years he was stay at home dad.

    Custody/divorce

Don't know if this is the right place for this. Don't have a clue about custody fights, but my 40 year old son is going through this. It's quit nasty. The court wants a custody evaluation, costs $5000, to be split by both parties. He is deep in debt and cannot afford this. But I don't see that...

Don't know if this is the proper place to look for this kind of advice but here goes. My son, age 40 is going through divorce. His attorney is not representing him well and seems to want to drop the case. Son says he can't afford the attorney, keeps getting more expensive. Sons wife if being...

    Long time since

If I draw it out over years what is the best, to go long or short. The thing is it has always bothered me to owe on a vehicle and not pay it off early

    Long time since

It's been a long time since I purchased an auto. Been retired 10 years, 66 yrs old. The thing is I'm not sure the best way to buy is. Should I take most or all the money out of 401k or should I finance. How much should I finance and for how long? Used to buy auto for 3 years and windup paying it...

    Vacation home/HUD

Decided to take $19,000 equity loan on present house and pay $21,000 cash. That way we won't have to be held up by mortgage process that banker and realty agent seemed to question. Did inspections today and there are electrical and plumbing problems that are not terrible. This is the right...

    Vacation home/HUD

Found a great deal for vacation home. Problem is it's a HUD property. Agent and banker have told me beware of HUD. It seems like they want to impede the sale. The property only costs $40,000. I have $17,000 in cash but thought I would get a mortgage and only put $8,000 down. I have also thought...

    Vanguard adjustment

I am 65 and retired for 9 years. Have 90% retirement funds in VWIAX, Wellesley income fund Admiral and 10% in VGSTX, Vanguard Star fund. Concerned about market fall and wonder if it would be best to move into something safer and stable. Some might think this is already too conservative but was...

    Not bored to leave

I have been retired for 6 years and feel I'm doing good. Not bored. Have enough to keep busy around the farm/house. The thing is I don't leave the place anymore than I have to. Recently my wife mentioned she wished I would go out on more on my own, leaving her home. She has friends and plenty to...

    401k rollover?

When moving from 401k is it better to go to IRA or keep as 401k. Heard that the costs are even lower for IRA. Also, are they talking about regular or Roth IRA?

    401k rollover?

It's not that I'mdisappointed with Fidelity funds, they are good, but keep hearing how great Vanguard costs are. Is that enough to rollover 401k? At the Vanguard site they allow you to compare similar funds costs and there is a good difference.

    401k rollover?

Have been thinking about 401k rollover to Vanguard since retirement a few years ago. I'm GM retiree with Fidelity as 401k plan. Is it worth it? Supposed to be lower fees. I like the Contrafund. Is it best to join the different funds or go with all one, Vanguard or Fidelity?

Sell the farm or pass it on to the heirs?

What is the last 5 or 10 year history of the farm? I can't imagine a 200 acre farm sitting idle long without the tillable fields at least being leased out. What are they paying in property taxes?

I'm retired from General Motors, with pension of just under $2000 a month. They are talking about buyout of pension. The question is how to figure how much is enough. How is buyout taxed? What to do with money? Annuity or what?
