    More withdrawal now?

I only withdraw 3% out of IRA each year. So far have only taken 1% this year. Question is would it be better to take out not only the rest for this year but some additional for next year. Thinking about recession coming. Taxes are not a problem.

    credit card fraud pending

I checked my last statement and saw two charges pending, one of $.20 and other of $.49. They were from Uber eats of San Francisco. I live in Michigan and never used Uber eats. I called Citi and they said they would cancel card and issue new. My question is why would they charge so little if it's...

    Land to buy

A piece a land across the road from our cabin came up for sale. Problem is we owe small amount on cabin, equity loan on our home. What is the best way to buy the land? If I take too much out of 401k tax rate would probably go up. Don't really want to owe big land loan but what is best?

    Custody/divorce

Don't know if this is the right place for this. Don't have a clue about custody fights, but my 40 year old son is going through this. It's quit nasty. The court wants a custody evaluation, costs $5000, to be split by both parties. He is deep in debt and cannot afford this. But I don't see that...

    Long time since

It's been a long time since I purchased an auto. Been retired 10 years, 66 yrs old. The thing is I'm not sure the best way to buy is. Should I take most or all the money out of 401k or should I finance. How much should I finance and for how long? Used to buy auto for 3 years and windup paying it...

    Vacation home/HUD

Found a great deal for vacation home. Problem is it's a HUD property. Agent and banker have told me beware of HUD. It seems like they want to impede the sale. The property only costs $40,000. I have $17,000 in cash but thought I would get a mortgage and only put $8,000 down. I have also thought...

    Vanguard adjustment

I am 65 and retired for 9 years. Have 90% retirement funds in VWIAX, Wellesley income fund Admiral and 10% in VGSTX, Vanguard Star fund. Concerned about market fall and wonder if it would be best to move into something safer and stable. Some might think this is already too conservative but was...

    Not bored to leave

I have been retired for 6 years and feel I'm doing good. Not bored. Have enough to keep busy around the farm/house. The thing is I don't leave the place anymore than I have to. Recently my wife mentioned she wished I would go out on more on my own, leaving her home. She has friends and plenty to...

    401k rollover?

Have been thinking about 401k rollover to Vanguard since retirement a few years ago. I'm GM retiree with Fidelity as 401k plan. Is it worth it? Supposed to be lower fees. I like the Contrafund. Is it best to join the different funds or go with all one, Vanguard or Fidelity?

    Pension buyout

I'm retired from General Motors, with pension of just under $2000 a month. They are talking about buyout of pension. The question is how to figure how much is enough. How is buyout taxed? What to do with money? Annuity or what?

    GM early retiree

I retired in 2006 at 56 when my GM plant closed. I receive a basic benefit and a supplemental benefit. When I turn 62 does that supplement go away wether I start soc. security or not? I've searched my union papers and can't figure it. It certainly would change if I take soc. sec. at 62 or not...

Neuberger Berman High Income Bond Fund –

My 401k is changing/replacing some funds. They are replacing Fidelity Capital and Income with Neubrger Berman High Income Bond Fund. What would their reason be? Is this fund as good? I saw Fid Cap&Inc as fairly safe and steady. I am 60 and retired 5 years ago.

How to find out reason refi refusal

I am 60 and retired. I tried to refi and was turned down. The reason the credit union gave was the Fannie and/or Freddie refused because we use part of the property for farming. That use is we rent 20 acres to farmer for $1200 a year. This is a farming area. I have no debt other than the...

    Refinance decision

Refinance snag, the credit union won't refi because I rent out 20 acres for farming. They won't go for 30 yrs but will for 15. They say Freddie Mac won't take the loan but they will for the shorter time. If I was 30 instead of 60 years old it wouldn,t be a question of what to do. The interest...

    Refinance at this age?

I am 60, been retired 4 years. Ten years ago we bought this old farm house. We refinanced 6 years ago at 5.625% for 30 years. The question now is, should we refinance now? I don't exspect to live past 90 so the place will probably never be paid in my lifetime. But is it wise to exstend it at...

I have been retired three years. 401k is split 50%-50% equity to bonds, all in Fidelity plan for General Motor retirees. Contrafund is 30%, Pimco core plus bond and Fid Capital and Income are the two main bond funds. With the limited funds available and wanting to preserve in what might be...

    Refinance or not

I am trying to figur if it's time to refinance. I am 59, retired, and have 23 years left on mortgage. Interest is at 5.62% now. Can't figure which would make sense... Refinance 15 yr. at 4.62%, 20 yr. at 4.99%, or leave it. 30 yr. is at5.24% but that doesn't make sense at all to me. My...

    GM under?

I retired about two years ago from General Motors. Never thought about if they would go into bankruptcy. What happens if that does occur? Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but maybe some ERs are through disability. My son has diabetes and has lost vision in one eye. He is working. Credit card limit

I have a credit card limit I feel comfortable with. The problem is the credit card company keeps increasing my limit. I don't need or want these increases. By telling them to lower the limit back down to what it was does that hurt my credit or score for the future?
