    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

I agree with the post. However, some points that make me think I may use an annuity in the future in particular a deferred annuity Pb4usk is correct that at the cliff $1 of income can cause a large increase in health care expenditures in fact under just the right conditions $1 can cost...

Thank you Yes I am not using annuity at this time but I am concerned that aca contains some triggers that will lower the subsidies if the program is too expensive.. May need to use annuity in the future.

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

Can you elaborate on why it would be better than the variable ? I am very interested in learning more about this option. As you say it would solve the magi issue. The disadvantage are a lack of liquidity and the risk the insurance company will go belly up. Also, if you compare the 7 year...

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

Brewer, just a word of caution. I was warned by a CPA that it is dangerous to use a business structure to qualify for aca. This is not tax minimization but using a corporate structure to qualify for a federal aid program. His view was it will attract audits and that having him deal with the...

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

The answer to the last question is no. Kaiser has a premium subsidy calculator you can use to see the effect of changing your agi Be careful, if you are at 400% fpl 1 dollar more will mean no premium subsidy all Hope this helps

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

FYI I called the nevada state insurance exchange and they told me the state will offer no hsa qualified plans over their exchange. They said hsa plans must be pop and the nevada plans are HMO.

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

Hsa contributions do not require earned income.Or stated another way hsa contributions can be made with only passive income unlike an ira. An hsa contribution does reduce magi used for aca calculation per link below http://laborcenter.berkeley.edu/healthcare/MAGI_summary13.pdf

    Minimizing MAGI for PPACA

Shotguner, the use of hsa plan on the insurance exchange is very clever. More info please ? I found the link at the bottom of this post that indicates in Vermont a silver and bronze level plan both qualify for hsa. I am in nevada which has its own exchange so I suppose there may or may not be a...
