    Another financial literacy test

100% here, but I could see how a couple of the questions could have misleading if I overthought them.

    Is frugality without sacrifice doable?

In many cases I find the cheaper option is actually superior to the expensive one. - Playing baseball with friends is a lot more fun than watching a professional team. - Backpacking vacations are much more intense and rewarding than going on a cruise. - Food prepared at home is much healthier...

What's the opposite of Wheeeee? Whoooops?

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! I'm just happy that I am going backpacking for a month. No more internet access for me for a few weeks.

    Free on Kindle today

Don't overlook all of the good free classics available. Here are a few promising ones I downloaded on the topic of finance: "Theory of the leisure class" is about the origins of conspicuous consumption. It's been a good read so far. It is very old fashioned in style, but does a fantastic job...

Those age 25 to 29 had 2010 household income of $25,000 to $99,999 and household investable assets of $99,999 or less" If they only interviewed people with investible assets...

Find a job you like -- okay, how?

Since work is something I have to do, I have never fully enjoyed it. The restriction of freedom has always made me mildy (sometimes strongly)resentful. I am very curious to see how my attitude changes once I achieve FI. Have other people found that being financial independence made working life...

27 year-old on the path to Financial Independence

Thanks a lot guys. It's nice to be able to brag a little bit. I can't really discuss this sort of thing with friends or familly. They would either be envious or think I was out of my mind. I'm just a regular engineer, but I manage to save about half of what I make.

27 year-old on the path to Financial Independence

Five years ago when I graduated from college, I did the "normal" thing buying a house and new car on credit. With big monthly payments, $500 in savings, and a high-risk job in the technology field I was completely stressed out and miserable. It was a big mistake, but turned out to be a blessing...
