    Spring has Sprung!

Mid 60's today; the first really gorgeous day we have had here for about 4 months! The Mid-Atlantic is a real downer in the winter. The daffodils and crocus are blooming. Life is good!

    Weekly Workout Check-In

Ran and walked about 20 miles this week (not including the 10 or so miles I walked at work ^-^). Had about 3 hours of killer weight work-outs. My butt is singing when I try to sit down! Going to the Keys next week...Have to look decent in my new bikini :)

    Amazing, isn't it?

The 180 degree swing in the attitude of the market pundits. Just a few days ago they were giddy with happiness about how we were going to avoid the recession: almost high-fiving each other. Kramer made me want to gag with his over-the-top predictions. Now they are doom and gloom, making it...

    Weekly Physical Fitness?

Since we have weekly weigh-ins, how about weekly progress reports about HOW we're going to lose the weight. I am actually at my goal weight and trying to gain muscle at this point. Yesterday I ran 4.5 miles, did a bunch of crunches watching the TV before going to work 10 hours. Today I am...

    Watching MSNBC

You'd think someone died. They have been so sullen this morning; I guess finally admitting we're in a recession is tough, as they've been talking up for weeks about how we were in "the" bottom. Do you really think this channel is objective? It's almost like they try to "sell" you on...

This is for you RV'ers on the board!

This was a recent post on my blog, but thought I'd post a copy here, since so many desire to travel when ER. I would love to go on an RV trip around Europe when the girls are grown and after we travel the US and Canada: One of the reasons we RV is related to cleanliness. Do you remember the...

Bernanke wants the banks to do what?!

Um, now I wish I had a huge mortgage! Did I hear the guy right when he asked banks to forgive part of the mortgage? Just right it off? Yeah, I bet the banks will be jumping on board this one!

Does anyone choose to keep working, but less?

We are thinking of not so much "retiring" completely and early, but backing off on working. This will allow us to move sooner, live in a location that we want to retire in, and still have our off days to enjoy the locale. DH wants to become a fly-fishing guide, while I love my job and don't...

    Interesting Bubble/ Recession Article

According to this, I should wait until 2013 to buy a house! This is a good article on historical bubbles and recessions. "The next bubble: Priming the markets for tomorrow's big crash" by Eric Janszen (Harper's Magazine) from the article "Our economy is in serious trouble. Both the...

When would you get in the market with a lump sum?

Hi there, looking for some advice (I know; it's worth what you pay for it!) DH received a very large lump-sum payout last year of his stock after leaving his job of 20+ years. It was in an ESOP, so now sitting in Money Market IRA. Thank God I didn't listen to everyone last year who was on...

RN and family planning on (semi-)retiring early

Hi there, First time post. DH and I have been downsizing/decluttering for some time. Just sold our house last summer and we are now renting a house half the size of the old one while we continue to get rid of stuff. We now have 3 rooms in this house empty or using for storage. We are...
