What did you do today? - 2021 version

Thanks :flowers: My life is pretty quiet and peaceful up here in the middle of Nowhere NY. Not much to write about.

How many hours of TV do you watch per day?

Way too much lately...Winter has arrived in upstate NY. It's just me and "Pups" (my dog) these days, so no human conversation in person is available on a regular basis. I usually have instrumental music, of many varieties, on all day and then watch a few episodes of retro TV shows at night, or...

Hippies, peaceniks, and the sands of time

I was 11 years old and lived less than an hour away from Bethel. My older brother and sister were under "house arrest" and had to call my Mom at work every hour so she knew they had not gone with the neighbor guy who had a car, or hitchhiked up there on their own. I kid you not. I attended the...

What did you do today? 2018 version

I checked my ROTH IRA account balance today. I was very pleasantly surprised. I passed the 59 1/2 age a few months ago. Now what shall I spend that on ? :coolsmiley: I have always wanted to have a small cozy camp in the Adirondacks or near a small lake or stream in the great wilderness of...

    Things Older People Do

Yes indeed. It is a turning point for me to have minor physical issues, "fix" them, and carry forward. It feels WONDERFUL to be able to overcome the mileage.

    Things Older People Do

Now what were we talking about ? :coolsmiley: I have learned to say out loud what I am going to the next room or downstairs to retrieve. It truly helps. So I guess I am now talking out loud to myself and still getting good answers. ;)

    Things Older People Do

 And I shall continue  so I don't lose it ! I'm also experiencing CRS on a more frequent basis. I treat it as a normal mileage process and use reminder notes and my cell calendar, more and more.

    Things Older People Do

Move it or Lose it ! Hmmmm...looking square in the face of the big 6 0 is giving me a little bit of pause...and my body is getting a bit less agile. I stay in reasonably good shape through my container gardening and house chores/yard work. I had an issue with getting up from a seated position...

What did you do today? 2018 version

Yes, I have heard of it. I am a member of several gardening groups on Facebook. It may be the next method I attempt, but for now I will stick with my 5 gallon buckets, 7 gallon grow bags, and various sized large planters bought off season (on sale) over 11 years since I did the ER thing in 2007...

Want to move to better weather but tough to leave family/comfort

I'm one of those crazy people that lives in upstate NY, just south of a very serious snow belt area due to Lake Ontario lake effect snow. Yes, Winter is long. Yes, I would love to live in a more temperate climate. I have no family here, but I do have very close friends in my same age bracket...

What did you do today? 2018 version

The Deck Farm... I spent the entire day transplanting rooted tomato clones and a few short season melons into huge planters. I watered myself with the garden hose pointed skyward to keep my body cooled down. I had a few cold brewskis on ice with lime juice for hydration, nourishment, and...

Thank you :flowers: Yes, indeed, the retired Accountant/Computer Geek (Mr Boston) and Engineer (me) are still on the same page. Great memory you have going there.

How much of your retirement income is "guaranteed"?

Close to 100%...modest CSRS survivor pension with COLA, my own small FERS pension without COLA, and TSP converted to immediate annuity with MetLife. All safe and steady, but none hitting the ball out of the park. I have a modest retirement portfolio as a backup in case inflation causes my...

Pantry envy...that's a new one. :coolsmiley: MBAustin's looks fabulous. Nice j*b ! I have a ceiling to floor kitchen pantry with 4 roll out shelves, plus a smaller one for overflow, built in the tiny closet under the stairs. The smaller one is excellent for cans and glass jars, which...

    RIP Yogi Berra

He was a big part of the Mets team, leading up to the Miracle Mets of 1969. I was watching baseball a lot with my brothers during the mid 1960s to early 1970s. What a character he was ! Short bio of his career here "It ain't over til it's over"

what did you do today? (2008-2015) (closed)

I remembered to log on...:greetings10: I've been busy harvesting my container garden, processing tomatoes and peppers for the freezer. I had to re-organize my enclosed porch so I will have room to move some of my tender plants indoors when the night time temps get too low. So far so...

How much do you know about science topics?

10/12. I missed the magnifying glass and light-year questions. It's been a long time since I took a Physics course (my college major :coolsmiley: ).
