Hmmm
As close to zero or slightly negative as a disaster loss plus a Roth conversion will allow. In a normal year - try to 'adjust' my ER income to hit 25-30k - cause of file single - low tax bracket and all that.
However - the don't let the dog wag the tail theory says - take cap gain if it needs to be taken - even short term(yuch!) - haven't had to recently.

Dan: Thanks for the compliment of wedded median bliss! But reality says that we exist at the opposite extremes of every bell curve. And some of those pixels shouldn't be out and about in the digital world.

I am a little surprised that 3 others have joined us under 30K.
BTW, DW pays income taxes but I do not. As I recall,
some here thought that was not quite right.
