I have some old I Bonds currently earning 3.94%. March 2011 issue, $140 Principal Current Redemption $195. But the I Bond issued September 2011, also $140 Principal,, also has that same $195 Redemption amount. I thought I Bind interest accrues monthly, and I'm past any penalty period. How can both current values be correct, since purchased 6 months apart?
I have quite a few others with the same situation.

Yes, they can be correct.

A $100 ibond purchsed in March 2011 would be worth $139.84 on Mar 1, 2024 so your $140 bond would be worth $195.78

A $100 ibond purchsed in Sept 2011 would be worth $139.40 on Mar 1, 2024 so your $140 bond would be worth $195.16

From eyebonds.info

I think the amounts are so close because the March 2011 ibond ony earned 0.74% for the first 6 months so it was only worth $140.50 when you bought the Sept 2011 ibond for $140.00.
