Don Everly - the other Everly brother passed away today at 84

Saw them as an opening act to Simon and Garfunkel. Great show.

I'm a native Nashvillian, and my mother used to know the Everly's mother.

When they took very young retirement, they kept a low profile in the music industry. They stayed out of the limelight pretty much.

But I do think they were very underrated as entertainers.

I still recall putting a nickel in the juke box to listen to the Everly Bros. What a new sound they had at the beginning of the R&R era.

Bye Bye Love was one of my favorite songs. I seemed to have a lot of those experiences back then. It was also the title of a great movie which I recommend.

Among others Cathy's Clown. I could relate to all their songs. RIP Don and Phil.

I loved Cathy's Clown.

Here's another great Everly Brothers song:

I always felt like they were under-rated. What great harmony.

This, and your earlier posted "Bye-Bye Love" are great examples.

I don't think they are underrated by other musicians, I've heard quite a few greats mention them as an influence in interviews.

Here's another one of theirs I like (I forgot how prominent the electric guitar with tremolo was on this recording, listen to that first chord), and I love the Doc & Merle Watson version too (start at 21:40, if the embedded time index doesn't seem to work?).
